Avaz Twist Tower is a must-visit when you're in Sarajevo. As the tallest building in the Balkans, it offers unbeatable panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains from its top-floor observation deck. The architecture itself is striking—modern, sleek, and a unique contrast to the city's historic skyline.
The entrance fee is very affordable, and the elevator ride takes you up quickly to the top. Once you're there, you’ll be treated to a 360-degree view that really puts Sarajevo into perspective. It’s especially beautiful at sunset when the city glows in golden light, and the mountains take on a dramatic silhouette.
There’s also a café at the top where you can sit and enjoy a coffee or drink while taking in the view, making the experience even more enjoyable. The tower is easy to reach by foot or taxi from the city center.
Even if you're only in Sarajevo for a short time, Avaz Twist Tower is a must-go. It’s not just about the view—it’s about seeing how the city stretches, blends old and new, and thrives in a valley surrounded by history and beauty....
Read moreWe visited Avaz Twist Tower during our trip to Sarajevo with our toddlers, and while it’s not a typical “kid activity,” it turned out to be a nice short stop that worked surprisingly well for a family with little ones.
The elevator ride to the top was smooth and quick, a little exciting moment for the kids. At the top, the panoramic view of Sarajevo is absolutely stunning. It’s open-air, but safely enclosed with high railings, so we felt comfortable having the toddlers walk around (though we still kept a close eye on them!).
There isn’t much to do for kids in terms of activities, but it’s a good break in the day, especially if you want to enjoy the view and take some great photos. We also stopped at the cafe downstairs, which was clean and cozy, with enough space to sit down and grab a quick drink or snack while the kids had a breather.
It’s not a long stop, maybe 30–45 minutes but definitely worth it if you’re in the area and want to do something light with young children. Just make sure to bring snacks or small toys to keep them...

(sorry but that's a 150% increase) and only paid at the toll gate which only accepts coins and doesn't give back change, so back to the ground floor you go begging at the post office to give you smaller money
It wouldn't be too much of a problem if the sign in English didn't clearly say 2km per person, which is a big difference...probably wouldn't mind paying the 5 if that's what the sign says but the misaligned information already made us hesitant (not to mention it was apparently free not too long ago as well)
If you have 5 to spare, it's okay, but to be honest the city isn't much of a view considering the tower is gigantic compared to the rest of the architecture so it just ends up looking small
Cafe was fine and budget-friendly, which was a nice surprise, I'd rather suggest stopping there for the view and getting a coffee for less than the...
