The historic landmark where Dom Pedro II declared Brazil's I from Portugal and home to USP's history museum (under long-term renovations for several more years), it's definitely worth the long-ish trip to Ipiranga to see the beautiful garden on a sunny São Paulo weekend. Read moreThis is the place where Don Pedro declared Brasil independence from the Portugal. Hence,there is a memorial built here to commemorate it. Under the memorial is the crypt of Don Pedro and both his wives are buried under it. However, it is also surrounded by a beautiful park which is filled with skaters and families. A very chilled out place to be. At the end of the memorial is the museum of Ipiranga but it is under renovation till 2022,dont ask me what they are trying to do for so long cause it has been under renovation since 2013. There are very few places where you can sit and rest to keep going. Food or drinks are not allowed but you can find a few water fountains near the restrooms.
