I was very disappointed with my experience this past Sunday.
1- I booked a tee of time for 9 holes for 11:10am on Sunday May 11th. Upon my arrival I was informed that due to the frost, all tee off times are delayed. I asked the gentlemen why wasn't I informed of this before coming here by a phone call or something. The gentlemen replied saying that they just simply don't do that.
2- The gentlemen told me that my tee off time was rescheduled for 12:30pm. I arrived at the golf course at 12:10 to give me some time to practice chipping and putting & possibly hit some balls at the driving range. Upon my arrival I hear my name through speakers saying that I was next in line. I was then rushed to pay and get my cart to start my round. While paying at the counter the gentlemen informed me that during weekends we don't accept 9 holes and that we had to pay for 18. I had to battle with the gentlemen and explain to him that when I booked my tee off time that I booked for 9 holes.
3- The golf course itself is nice to play on but not when you are rushed. during my 9 holes, we were told twice by 2 different marshals to hurry up.
Conclusion: That was the first time I was ever told by a marshal to hurry up and now twice on this course! on a 9 Hole! that's ridiculous. The game of golf is supposed to be fun and relaxing and not stressed! I blame the poor organizing and planning skills of the Canmore golf and curling club. Maybe if the club had started the tee off times at 11am instead of 9am, or if they would come up with a better system for keeping client phone numbers for situations like this, this problem could have been avoided. But I get it, at the end of the day it's a business, and they were probably trying to get as many people on the golf course to make as much money as they can. and its too bad because I have played there before and enjoyed it, but its experiences like that, that makes me want to never...
Read moreWhat a joke!! August 25th, perfect sunny day, 24c. Still summer and daylight till 9pm, but for some reason even with several people on the range and it being 645pm, the range is now closed at 630pm when it has been 730pm just the day before. They refused to sell range balls and take money. With all the rain this year this like the 12th were it felt like summer and trying to enjoy whats left of it. Been in golf business 40 years, played everywhere in North America and have no clue why they close the range so early. I can see clean cut in morning by greens crew, but thats one evening a week. If it is to have enough golf balls for morning, buy more range balls. For the safety of the staff, then use gators for your ball pickers with headlights or use a 7 gang picker to have range picked in 20 mins and collects 3,000 balls. Always excuses as to why it is closed so early when daylight left. With anything their should be night lights and open till 10pm and encourages people to come out in town for an activity and will then support the food and beverage more and also encourages a habit of going to the course which in turn drives revenue. Turning people away, is why the game of golf is dying. Covid gave it a small boost, but before that golf courses where all crawling to a halt. I thought Canmore was...
Read moreFull disclosure: I am a former employee. My return after an approximately 10 month absence was nothing short of spectacular! I had arranged through my Mom, who is a long-term member, for a foursome on a Saturday afternoon of the Father's Day weekend. Although the weather appeared to be against us that day, it did not dampen the spirits or the enthusiasm of the entire crew. I/we were greeted warmly and sincerely. I was witness to not one, but two wedding ceremonies while we were there. Judging by the smiles, both went off without a hitch. While we did not eat there this time, I was impressed with the beverage selection, service provided and price points. It still remains the best value in the Bow Valley and surrounding area for course condition and spectacular views. Pace of play is strictly adhered to and made it possible for us to fully enjoy our day! A special shout out to our Starter Steve Williams who arranged a blue flag for my mother "just in case". The Director of Golf took the time to greet my party in the Pro Shop and introduce me to current staff in a warm and friendly way. I now live in Winnipeg but when in Canmore I relish the opportunity to play this course regardless of the weather! Thank you to all and I hope to see you again later...
