We stayed at Rocky Ski Lodge for 7 days. While the front desk staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be. The views/area were beautiful. Most of the “cozy mountain getaway” charm stopped at the name. Let’s start with the 2 most serious issues. The hot water in both the shower and sink in the room was dangerously hot. Like 2nd- 3rd degree burn hot. Within four seconds, it would go from cold to steaming, scalding boiling water with absolutely zero warning. I was almost burned multiple times if I wasn't quick. No signage, no heads-up, just surprise! You’re now in a hot sauce commercial. I have a video of the water going from cold to that extreme in LITERALLY 4 seconds. It’s genuinely unsafe, and I can't stress that enough—if you have kids or mobility issues, this could be seriously dangerous. Then, we had ongoing toilet issues during our stay. And no—we weren’t jamming it with paper or shoving whole rolls down. Just regular use. It clogged multiple times, and maintenance came multiple times. One night when we called down, they literally said we could just plunge it ourselves and they'll bring us one, or switch rooms at midnight (on night five of seven). This is because maintenance had already went home. So we had to hold off on the bathroom all night or use the bathroom in the office. Not exactly ideal when you're trying to wind down on vacation. Those were the major issues with out stay. There were also persistent issues included: -TV constantly freezing, glitching, or just turning off mid-show. -Stained bedsheets (which instantly makes you question everything.) -Power flickering randomly. -A mysterious fish smell one morning. -No elevator, so get ready to haul your stuff upstairs. -No sauna, even though it was advertised. Didn't get any mention of that when checking in. -The floors in the hot tub room were heated, which sounds nice until you realize it feels more like walking across hot coals. I couldnt keep both feet down for more than a few seconds without jumping around in burning pain. Again, a warning or temp control wouldn’t hurt. The room wasnt the greatest. We even tried to upgrade after seeing our room in person, but the cost was an extra $500, which was out of range. The overall look of the place is more motel than lodge—which is fine if that's your expectation. But when something says “ski lodge,” you're kinda hoping for a cozy, well-kept spot, not one where you’re side-eyeing the sheets and testing the water temp like you're defusing a bomb. To end on a positive note, when we checked out, we asked for a refund for one night out of the seven days we stayed due to the multiple plumbing issues. We were told the manager wasn’t on-site until 7am. We checked out before that then called SIX times before we got an answer. Initially, we were offered a discount on a future stay (we don’t even live in the province), then half a night, and finally, after some persistence, they agreed to a full night refund—which we did receive. That effort to make things right was appreciated, even if it took a bit of a journey to get there. The one bright spot was the front desk team—they were polite, apologetic, and seemed to genuinely care. It’s just unfortunate that the overall maintenance and safety issues of the lodge undercut their efforts.

Your response is unsatisfactory. Only 2 things are acceptable here: You saying you will NOT assign these rooms to paying customers for the duration and a full refund as I was not given the hours I paid for to enjoy a quiet $254 night in Canmore and the ability to sleep past nine. As I mentioned at checkin I was out at 4am for the sunrise shuttle, I wanted to sleep upon my return. I was still put in that room. Major fail. I work in the construction industry - no one not wearing PPE should be allowed within the work zone not including the multiple tripping hazards as shown on the pictures. Does this look like a well managed work zone to you? ______ Normally, you wait to write a review, especially if you are unhappy. I wrote a 1st review while sitting in the motel yesterday, and now that I see the charge on my credit card, I am even more angry and updating it the next day. $254 for one night in mid-Sept, where I could not enjoy the space from check in to check out because of excessive construction noise - right above my head is unacceptable. They failed to warn about the construction activity and minimized the issue at check in "It's only for a couple more hours," failing to say they would start again well before check-out time. Renting rooms in the building getting repaired is a flagrant and unequivocal lapse in hospitality standards. I had to use my own safety hearing protection after check-in and left well before checkout time. I took a video, but Booking or Google reviews won't let you upload videos. I will add that the shampoo & conditioner dispenser is disgusting, & the conditioner is watered down from an already cheap product. The ceiling of the bathroom had yellow/brown water damage. The carpet is equally questionable, and I would not walk barefoot. The housekeepers are not to blame: The flooring is at least 15 years old. I went to complain to the front desk before leaving & all the guy did was nod and shrug. Like, "we already have your $." I am not a regular, but I've lived in Ab for a while and stayed in this motel 5 or 6 times. It's been on a downhill trajectory for a while. The construction noise was not due to improvements but probably a necessity from an inspection. No one should have been allowed under the area getting chopped off with falling concrete and other debris behind a flimsy green net hooked to flimsy scaffolding. That was my final visit, and I hate that I paid $254 for something that wasn't worth $79.99. If you have a booking for fall 2023 and you are within the cancellation period, consider it.

As a first-time guest, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the charm and character of the Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge. While it may not have the sleek, contemporary aesthetic of some newer hotels, there's an undeniable cozy, homey feel that sets it apart. The exterior has a classic, alpine-inspired design, complete with wood accents and stonework that blends seamlessly into the surrounding mountains. Step inside and you'll find a warm, inviting atmosphere throughout the common areas. One of the best features of this lodge is that each guest room comes equipped with its own private fireplace. This is a wonderful perk that allows you to enjoy that cozy, cabin-like ambiance anytime you want, without having to share the space with other guests. After a day of adventure in the Rockies, being able to relax in front of your own fireplace is truly delightful. In terms of the accommodations themselves, the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, with amenities like a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and TV. And I'm happy to report that the entire lodge is spotlessly clean and well-maintained, despite its slightly older furnishings. But the real standout feature, in my experience, is the exceptional customer service provided by the front desk staff. They go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay, offering helpful recommendations, assisting with activity bookings, and always greeting you with a smile. It's the kind of hospitality that can really elevate the overall experience. (I know I’m annoying sometimes! Haha) The location is also super convenient - just a short drive from downtown Banff, with easy access to all the best hiking, skiing, and sightseeing the Canadian Rockies have to offer. After a day of adventure, it's wonderful to return to the cozy confines of the lodge. Overall, I think you're really going to enjoy your first stay at the Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge. The in-room fireplaces, combined with the charm, cleanliness, and outstanding service, make it a true gem. I'm confident you'll leave with very fond memories of your time there!

The goods: location: Tesla supercharger is just across the street and this is close-ish to highway so you can just get on with life our trip fairly quick The bad: Almost one of my worst hotel/motel experience and my bar isn't that high floors weren't clean. 10 mins after checking in and walking around my (bare) foot is already covered with dust/sang/whatnot tub'w drain was kinda plugged (10 min shower = 3 inches of water accumulated all the furnitires were very flimsy. E.g. you can sit on 1 side of a single bed and the other side would literally go up(as in the other sides mattress would separate itself from the base board). E.g 2: you can easily push around the single/queen bed with very little force. This means for us average height Asians can't really just lean on one side of the bed(instead of fully sitting/lying on it) as it would move it out of place easily both the interior/exterior is quite outdated (which is probably fine considering Google considers a 2* hotel) as a 2* hotel I would say this is below average and I would probably give it a 2* rating (or 3* if I'm in a good mood) but omg the price of this hotel was by far the most expensive of the 5 nights we stayed on our trip. It's literally double the price we paid for the other nights and the other hotels are much cleaner or nicer (or both) the wife (who did the booking) did say this is one of the cheaper options which I guess made sense due to our experience. If there truly isn't better options and you are tight on budget then I guess it's okay but boy that tourism tax is real high, it's not even THAT close to banff. If this is the type of quality I can expect with that kind of pricing I would discourage people from visiting in the first place. I originally left a 2* (just rating/no description) review but the owner left a reply indicating he/she can't improve without details. As I type this up it just made me realize how much this was a sore point for my otherwise fairly fun 6 days road trip so I have to lower this to one star

Tldr I would avoid this place unless you are very tight on budget. And even if you are very tight on budget it's hard to imagine going much worse than this so you can probably pick something even cheaper and not get something much worse than this. Only come here if this is literally the cheapest place if I were to try something else I might give Basecamp resorts a go as we had a wonderful experience in their Revelstoke location (for half the price) and I think the rates are about the same as this place (rocky mountain skiodge) after factoring in the tourism tax...
