Okotoks Art Gallery — Attraction in Alberta

This gallery always has beautiful art and a space where you can buy some local art which is great- however today I was quite uncomfortable as a older gentleman came in and was asking the woman working at the front desk some questions about doing a mural or submitting his art. I overheard and was so distressed by how the front desk lady was speaking to him. She had glasses with brown hair that sat below her shoulders. She spoke to him like it was an inconvenience that he was asking her questions, responding with a demeaning tone. The older gentleman wasn’t asking anything out of the ordinary and wasn’t being rude. I felt so uncomfortable for the gentleman that I left and actually apologized to him outside on how he was treated. So unfortunate because I really love the work in this gallery- hopefully this was an off-day for the front desk clerk and not something...

The Okotoks Art Gallery is truly a gem in the heart of the community. Every visit is inspiring, but we especially look forward to the summer when the gallery showcases the Colouring for Kids artwork. It’s a joyful and heartwarming celebration of creativity, filled with colour, imagination, and the pure magic of seeing art through the eyes of children.

We love how the gallery makes space for young artists to shine—it’s such a wonderful way to encourage expression and confidence. Visited this wonderful gallery with my daughter and friends. We were greeted by the docent (curator) and cashier who asked us to sign in before entering. They take donations instead of charging a fee for admission. All the art shown in the gallery is from local artists and is for sale. This place is a must see! It won't take long to go through; about half an hour. You get to see some extremely talented people's works of art. If you feel a certain connection with the art you can buy it right away!
