I’m originally from Manitoba and was really missing one of my favorite ice cream sundaes — the Double Delight. Two young ladies here did their best to recreate it for me: -2 scoops of vanilla ice cream in a rectangle container -One scoop topped with caramel sauce, the other with hot fudge -A sprinkle of nuts -Surrounded by fluffy whipped cream They came pretty close! Maybe they should give it a fun name of their own — something like the Double Dipper. I'll absolutely be back and we can try it again!!

The Big Dipper is absolutely adorable! There's a great amount of seating and shade available. The menu is clear and easy to read with flavour of the month board! They serve local foothills ice cream! I got the sea salted caramel fudge, and to be honest; it's probably the best ice cream I've ever had! The service was amazing, friendly and answered all my questions! Parking is restricted as its on a small residential street, but i had no trouble! 10/10

I gave 5 stars because of the staff who is super friendly and helpful. There are a lot of favors and I don't know what to try. She told me their top seller, Sea salt Caramel Fudge which I am not a fans of caramel. Then she offered me to try dark chocolate caramel sea salt which is very good. But after I finished the whole cone, I wanna try the Sea Salt Caramel Fudge next time.

" It seems Big Dipper’s lost its way, No more smiles to brighten your day. Once the best place for a sweet little trip, Now it’s just a disappointing dip. "

The atmosphere is still inviting, but the service has gone downhill. My little niece was excited to try the bubble gum ice cream. However, after just one lick, her ice cream fell off the cone and onto the gravel. We approached the counter, hoping for a bit of understanding and a replacement. Instead, the staff member laughed and told us we needed to buy another one.

I understand accidents happen, but a bit of empathy and good customer service could have gone a long way. We ended up buying another cone, but the experience left a sour taste in our mouths.

What was once a charming and family-friendly ice cream shop now feels like a place that doesn’t value its customers. It’s disappointing to see how the quality of service has declined. We were looking forward to sharing this local gem with our out-of-town family, but instead, we left feeling embarrassed...

A Fall from Grace.

Big Dipper once had the best ice cream experience in Okotoks. Unfortunately, it seems whoever owns or manages the place doesn't care to operate it and would prefer to leave the fate of the business in the hands of teenage staff members. I don't blame the kids who are working there (sometimes alone despite long lines) but it's clear they have no direction.

Most recently, I ordered a milkshake that had no additional scoop or whip cream (as they normally serve the exorbantly priced shakes) and only filled about 3/4 of the way. When I asked the staff member to remake/fix, he just shrugged and said it was too busy and they were almost out of milk. The next customer ordered a large shake and it was full to the top so it was clearly a lie to get out of remaking my order.

It's a shame this spot has become so terrible. I recommend avoiding and saving...

We’ve been going to the Big Dipper since O was a kid. It has historically been a great experience but has completely changed this year.

Their prices have increased a lot and with that has come really terrible service. I have been given the wrong flavour ice cream now 3 times, was told I had to purchase a cone for my kiddo after the associate made a mistake and put it in a cup, and paid $10 for a milkshake that was half full to be told “oh we ran out of milk so it’s not full”. Also just milkshake in a cup no scoop of ice cream on top and no whipped cream as it has been every other time we’ve gone. Seriously disappointing that whoever is running the show has let it get this out of hand. We’ve had some really disappointing experiences. If you charge premium prices you should definitely offer...
