I an extremely dissatisfied with the service there. I used to shop there quite often, for the food freshness and being the only Chinese grocery store in Aurora/Newmarket. Additionally, the service staff were very friendly and always smiling. At some point, the service dropped dramatically for some reason, perhaps due to a busier traffic flow (good for the business right). The sales ladies/ cashiers never smile, always pulling a long face. Even we said thank you as an appreciation after we paid the bill, they never responded still pulling the long face. My kid is even scared of one cashier lady and asked me not to check out with that lady (not because of physical appearance for sure!). Today, I had an even worse experience, the cashier made some mistake in the bill, and I asked her about it. I did not mean to criticize at all.i just simply used a tone of raising a question. She then suddenly pulled a long face, and said "that is why I asked you how many sesame balls you took" (I thought I told her one serving. How could I respond so quickly the precise number.) She seemed to not able to figure out the amount. Being a Chinese, I easily calculated that she billed less $ in the bill (I.e. I should have paid more). I told her I need to pay more. She wouldn't listen. Instead she resorted to another cashier-EVA for help. Eva was so impatient. I was really in a hurry and my kid rushed me to leave. I became a bit short tempered. I told her since that is not a big amount ~$1. I asked if I could leave. Also, it was me who spotted the error. Basically they would never know. Eva was just so impatient and asked me to wait in a very impolite way. When Eva finally calculated the amount ($1.25. I don't know right or wrong), I gave her a dollar and $10 cents. She said $1.25 like I owed her a lot of money.(I am not that familiar with the coins like them. I was slow in getting out the coins.) I told her I could leave without paying them the extra money as it was I who caught the error. She said "Do you want the food or not?" "Excuse me!!" Throughput the entire process, no apologies were made to me for the inconvenience and errors they caused. I give two stars because of its being the only Chinese grocery store in the neighbourhood. If there is another Asian store opening in the area, I would never go there again if cashiers like Eva...
Read moreI have been shopping at this supermarket for almost 10 years and have always had a good experience—until today. Unfortunately, the cashier I dealt with left me feeling extremely disappointed and frustrated.
When checking out, I was told that I could not use Apple Pay for a purchase over $200. I clearly remember being able to split the payment into two transactions before, so I asked if we could do the same. The cashier initially told me to void some items and pay for the first part (just under $200) and then rescan the remaining items separately. I agreed and followed her instructions.
However, after voiding a couple of items, I politely suggested, “Why don’t you let me try tapping the full amount with Apple Pay to see if it works?” At that point, the cashier suddenly became upset and raised her voice at me, saying that her POS terminal only allows up to $200 by tap. She then canceled the process entirely and refused to continue. Instead, she told us to take everything, along with the receipt, to the service desk because she “couldn’t help us.”
This was very unprofessional and unnecessary, especially since the store was not even busy at the time. There was no clear notice in the store about Apple Pay limits, and I was simply following the cashier’s own instructions. Being treated in this rude manner after years of loyal shopping was shocking and disappointing.
I really hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides better training for staff, because this kind of customer service experience is...
Read moreI usaully shop at this supermarket a lot and most times I am happy with that. However, tonight, the cashier overcharged me for the yellow peppers and the sushi box cover is very loose, all sushi fell in my cart everywhere.
I bought 2 red peppers and 2 yellow peppers, I put them in one clear plastic bag (for vegetable use) because I thought they were same price. When I checked the price in my car, I found they overcharged me so I went back to ask about the price, The cashier even didn't check, then said the price was correct. I told her to double check, she requested me to go to check. I said" could you go to check please?", she went to the shelf reluctantly, then said they did overcharge me for the yellow peppers. she just refunded me and kind of blamed me that I kept in the same bag but it can be obviously seen 2 kinds of peppers.
And I asked about the sushi, she just told me disdainfully that I didn't take care well, she can't do anything.
I felt so bad about this experiences, It's not a lot of money but the way they handle and their attitude really make me feel very uncomfortable. Hopefully, it won't...
