Very impressed, impeccable cakes!

I was shopping around for a birthday cake for my boyfriend’s birthday, and I decided to go a few days ahead of time and test out some of their cupcakes to get an idea of the quality of their cakes .

I didn’t think I had enough time to custom order a cake because they need about a weeks notice but when I spoke to the staff there, they said they could probably get something done for Friday, with just 3 days notice. But honestly, the counter cakes looked so good. I didn’t think it was necessary to put in a custom order.

The chocolate and vanilla cupcakes were the best I ever had. I’m not even a fan of chocolate cupcakes or chocolate icing, but they made me a fan! I also went back in for one of their mini carrot cakes. It’s about the size of a muffin, and that was delicious too incredibly flavourful very moist with the perfect crumb.

I went back on Friday morning to pick up the devil’s food cake which was chocolate cake with a raspberry buttercream filling, and a chocolate mousse icing and everybody loved it!! The cake was so fresh so incredibly moist. I will definitely be back for another cake for my next occasion! Kind of want to try them all.

I also had picked up one of their baguettes and a couple of scones. Oh, and their pull apart, cheesy bread, which was to die for!! everything is incredibly fresh and delicious. You can tell a lot of love goes into this baking.

My husband ordered a birthday cake two weeks ahead of time for my birthday and paid upfront. He went to pick it up the night before my birthday (December 21). The next day, my birthday I was very impressed with the cake. Its was gigantic! And it looked so yummy. The writting on it was terrible though, barely legible. I sliced into the gigatic cake, and put a piece on the plate. I tried to get a piece with my fork but every time I stabbed it the whole piece crumbled. I couldn't even eat the thing!!!! When I finally got a piece in my mouth (which I had to use my fingers to eat it with) it was DISGUSTING. Worst cake I have ever eaten. Oh my god. Words cannot describe how nasty it was. It indeed was dry, very very dry, and tasteless. Actually it did have taste. It tasted like the worst box cake ever. Now, I'm no baker myself, and I do use box cake, but my own cakes I make at home are %100 better! I was appalled. How can a bakery that claims to be professional hand out such garbage? I tried the name place instead since it had to be good, and I assumed it was on the cake it must be edible. Nope. It tasted like wax, and from my childhood I know what wax tastes like. I called and spoke to the owner who claimed the name piece was edible and was white chocolate. White chocolate doesn't taste like wax. I hired Hurst Bakery to provide the desserts at my wedding in July. They were the easiest people to deal with. When my now husband and I sat down with Lee with my mom to discuss everything, he was so enthusiastic and creative helping us to come up with an idea for our cake we could have never imagined that was perfect for who we are as a couple. My mom likes a muffin that he agreed to make into a cake liking the challenge of doing something new. They were upfront about costs sending itemized quotes, clarified anything we questioned professionally and quickly. They were great at responding to emails. More importantly, they didn't try to oversell anything or push anything on us. The desserts were devoured with no leftovers at the wedding.
