Triassic Towers, a tall, sturdy, sculpture erected in 2017 by artist Del Geist, welcomes western travelers from their recent mountain escape to the city of Calgary on Highway 1 at the very edge of the city. As divisive as this piece of art may be, it's quite a beautiful and tortured piece and I'm ultimately glad it exists. It also seems to be playing a big part in making sure that public art in Calgary is even better. Let's not rate this piece poorly and complain, as that may mean less art for everyone. Let's support it and critique it, and hope for more art and better processes...
