I was happy to see the new age renovations. The place definitely looks like its built for today's generation now. I was sad to see where all the books went. It is a library after all. How did we end up with such few books. I spent alot of time here since it was our library. I was an avid reader most of my life. Books that I read growing up came from here. I had a bad habit of getting toooo many books. Sometimes 50 at a time. They didnt have a limit back then and encouraged it. I used to find the oldest and sometimes even scriptures here. Their would be the odd librarian being mean then my dad or another librarian would stand up for you to take those books home. As I walked around to look at bare empty shelves it no longer felt like a library. Their is a 3rd of books their used to be when i was a child. Maybe not even... I don't see how this will help our youth. Where did our books go? Half the fun was finding old books you could sometimes find old treasures or notes in. They spoke of different times before our time. Notes or forms other students had left in there. We would leave them in the books for other children to discover. My question stands where did our books go?
I hope you guys dont phase out libraries because it looks like your about to. It looks more like a tech space now. So much empty space when those books shelves used to tower over adults. Back then I used to envision that place growing by the time I was an adult. Never thought it would go the other way.
Those books had history..... the history of my city....... Horse City ....
Their are alot more children in this city then their were when I...
Read moreHas anyone noticed that their kids get sick with the flu or cold 2 days after visiting this library . Especially if their kids play in the kids area. I haven't seen anyone disinfect any of the toys or the kids play area . Accumulated germs , bacteria and god knows what into your kids mouth. I like getting books to read stories for my kids at bed time and I'm not sure if these books are even cleaned when returned .
Thanks for the reply : Out of 6 visits to your library, my kids got sick 4 times and during the 4 times my kid was playing in the pavillion area and with the large building blocks and some bulky toys in that area as well . I think that is sufficient proof to you that whoever is responsible of maintaining the area is doing a careless job . There are swab monitors that show you how dirty your area is for human contact . They use them in hotels to make sure cleaners are doing their job correctly .
Regular proper disinfecting will clearly show on these items and my kids wouldn't get sick.
There is a massive amount of germs, viruses and bacteria , our doctor said such an area could contain bacteria that are resistant to...
Read moreThis locations Covid-19 response-- I feel very safe going in here as there is security at the door, hand sanitizer and a place to return materials borrowed. It's well ventilated and seems some shelves may have been moved since I was last here to accommodate for more space to distance. Also the staff have face masks and shields up at information and check out booths. I am happy with the response they have taken.
This library location is a great place for many things, multiple meeting rooms mixed with many independent study spaces, the ability to rent out laptops and the very gracious dividing space between the children's area and rest of the library. The added fact that Calgary Transit has a hub for their "Fair Entry" program here is also a great service. Coupled with a upgraded water fountain that has a space for refilling water bottles, this location is a true blessing and necessity. I go here alot for many types of activities, entertainment and...
