Ginger Garden — Restaurant in Calgary

What a joke this restaurant is. I'm only giving one star because zero stars isn't an option. We ordered Ginger beef and Curry chicken. I would have taken a picture of my curry chicken but I was too hungry. It was 70% onions with about 10% chicken. My boyfriend ordered the ginger beef and every piece we cut open we could barely see any meat in it as it was all breading and the meat we could see in it was clearly white meat. Not only was there no meat and all breading but the sauce was the sweetest unflavorful ginger beef sauce that I have ever encountered. When we went back to the restaurant to let them know about the error in the meat they advised us that it must be a different type of beef. I'm not sure what type of beef is white or if they're trying to pass off pork, chicken, or some other meat as beef but it most definitely was not Ginger beef. It wasn't the worst Ginger beef I've ever had.... because it wasn't beef. When we ask them to re do the order they came back out with a handful of, on a non-gloved hand with ginger chicken that I'm pretty sure they're going to fry up and serve to another customer. So we asked for chicken fried rice instead. When we got home the chicken fried rice was merely 10 peas, a morsel or two of chicken, and an entire container of rice which wasn't even cooked properly... I do not recommend this restaurant if they were giving food...

The food was fantastic, and in very large portions for a very good price! They were also very quick in delivery. Howevor, when I called them for a Delivery order this evening and the person who answered had no care in his voice whatsoever. He sounded as if it was too much of a bother for someone to be purchasing their food and that it was so much for him to answer the phone. And once i mentioned Martindale I actually heard him sigh over the phone as if it was sooooo much work for him. I'M SORRY, is it too much for you to do your job and show a little bit of politeness when dealing with your customers. Not to mention the way he added in the 6$ surcharge to Martindale as if it would deter me from ordering. Was quite rude in how he talked and was so quick to get through the phone call i felt like he didn't give a care in the world about what I would like. I understand that you may be busy but that is no excuse to show no care for your work and act rude to...

The place was owned by a family who were super lovely, understanding, kind people. There are new people running the business now, and though are still kind, it feels different. The man taking my order was understanding, and patient. Upon getting my order, as it was delivered to me, the inside of the bag was soaked in what I had ordered, the man who was driving, whom after I had paid said “oh and we require a tip”, I don’t know when it became enforced… I normally leave one when I can, but I can’t always do so. Once I did give him a tip, he left and I took my food, and began to open the contents… they looked normal from what I remember after my family has ordered from them for years before the new management, the ginger beef was dry, the chicken fried rice has chickpeas which was super uncommon for this place.

Overall; it’s not the same as it was. And since when has giving tips become...
