We’ve been Calgary Zoo members for many years (with a short break a few years back) and it’s still one of our favourite places in the city. The Zoo is always beautifully maintained, the staff are friendly, and it’s clear how much care goes into every habitat.
Our favourite section has always been the Canadian Wilds. It’s peaceful, scenic, and we never get tired of watching the otters play. There’s something grounding and joyful about spending a morning wandering the paths and seeing how thoughtfully everything is cared for.
We always stop and chat with the zookeepers and staff who are out working. They’re so kind and full of great tidbits of information. We’ve learned so much over the years just by taking a few minutes to talk with them.
The newer ticketing system that changes prices based on the day of the week can be a bit confusing, so we went back to the annual membership. It just makes things easier and lets us visit whenever we want.
The Calgary Zoo is such a gem. We’re really grateful to have a place like this to visit...
Read moreLoved my experience at the Calgary Zoo! The variety of animals is impressive and you could easily spend all day here. There's especially lots of things to occupy a family with children. The African section was especially impressive as you can get pretty close to some large animals that we aren't used to seeing in Canada. The staff is often feeding or taking care of animals around the park and this interaction keeps the animals moving about, which is interesting to watch. Didn't catch any sights of a few notable beasts like the polar bear and a few others but overall there is a wonderful selection and most of the animals were fairly active. The lemurs and the meer cats are especially fun to watch. The dinosaur section was a little less interesting only because there are no actual live animals obviously, but kids would likely love it. Would likey visit this place regularly if I lived in Calgary. Apparently it can sometimes be slightly cheaper to reserve your tickets online in advance. Highly recommend place to visit if...
Read moreThe Calgary Zoo is a fantastic destination for families and animal lovers, offering a wide range of exhibits that showcase wildlife from around the world. However, visitors should be aware that the zoo is currently undergoing some construction, which might cause a bit of disruption in certain areas.
One key exhibit, the Dinosaur Zone, is closed until the May long weekend, which may be disappointing for those planning to see the prehistoric displays. The rest of the zoo remains open, though, and there’s plenty to see, from the Canadian Wilds exhibit to the penguin habitat.
While the construction may impact the overall experience, it’s clear that the zoo is working to improve and expand its offerings for the future. If you’re planning a visit, it’s worth checking the website or calling ahead to confirm any closures or changes, but overall, the Calgary Zoo still offers an enjoyable and educational experience despite the...
