Finally I’ve found a church that my thoughts around Christianity and Culture feel at home and safe with. Sermons are very thought provoking. The language is beautiful and some times a bit grand and obviously written much more like hearing an essay than someone chatting with you in the moment but I suppose God is equally eloquent and intellectual. The message always comes back to a humble acceptance of God’s grace and Divine mysterious but beautiful leading in our lives. The orthodox traditions are very different to me coming from a Pentecostal/evangelical background but interested to observe and learn from. Worship feels humble and familiar. I do miss holding my hands high in the air to God but maybe just sit in the back pews. I wish there were parishes in the deep south. Hopefully we will get connected to a group one of these days. It’s been hard to find an open one. The progressive views of the church on inclusion and acceptance 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ and embrace of social justice ideas (which to me seem very close to Christ’s heart)...
Read moreThis church is unconventional, compared to religious practices that I was exposed to before. Somehow I felt called to come here. The community was warm and respectful, welcoming, but not in an intrusive way. You can do everything at your own pace. Nothing is forced on you, which I appreciated greatly. I stopped all together. Kensington Commons feels like the church that adopted me, it's growing too and I don't know everyone but what keeps me connected is the integrity that is held here. Every detail is gospel driven. For someone who is justice orientated I appreciate this (eg, fairtrade organic coffee and tea). The Jeremy's sermons are very academic and boils down verses for a deeper understanding through the language, time and connections. This church has blessed this young kid struggling through life, thank you so much for what you do but even more so,...
