Today I went for brunch alone. It was cold, a little windy and a little dreary. Luckily, I snagged an outside table immediately beneath a heater. I got a Large (¢50) Matcha Latte ($5.75) Sweatened (¢50) and a Mexicali Breakfast Bowl ($19.75) with bacon ($7). As you can tell, there was quite a bit of hidden costs I wasn’t informed about. While I assume some places have upgrades, it just would be nice to know the price of things before hand? The matcha was decent, but nothing special. A hot latte was great on a cold morning like today. As for the Mexicali bowl…. I unfortunately didn’t like it. My hash browns were barely warm and at the very bottom they were swimming with the pico de gallo juice. The whole dish tasted like it was lacking flavour, especially salt. Even the hot sauce couldn’t save it. Which is strange considering it LOOKED like it had flavour. I think what could have given this dish more life is tortilla chips and/or toss the hash in cumin, chili powder and chipotle. And the hashbrowns needed to be hot. The bacon was delicious, but it alone costed $7 💀 I wasn't informed this when I was asked if I wanted bacon. I would definitely go back. The staff were awesome. But I would for sure order something different.

Naturally gluten free should be the goal, these guys get it! I had the delicious fried buttermilk chicken, nice and crispy, and absolutely packs the heat with flavour, 10/10 best gluten free (or any fried chicken) I've ever had! The honey sauce they sneak on there is an amazing touch. Sweet and savory gets my vote any time! Staff were very nice and attentive, the space is a little tight but understandable considering the history of this business and the culture it's brought, if it's not broke don't fix it and i love that. I love the aesthetic! Oh, and don't leave without having a milkshake! The salted caramel was amazing, brought memories back from when a cafe used to make similar shakes, but closed down unfortunately, brought a tear or two. Price is a bit up there, but is to be expected, for me and my wife to have a main, share a shake and a desert was 80+ including gratuity. If you are gluten free/ celiac this is a must visit, We will be checking out breakfast soon to try the eggs Benny!

We went to Dairy Lane and sat on the patio the other day for lunch with our daughter. The patio faces east, so it’s so lovely in the mornings and for lunch. The owner Jodi was so sweet and welcoming. Our service was excellent. Coffee was refilled regularly, and our meals were outstanding. I had the cali chicken sandwich and my husband had the fried chicken sandwich. The side salad was both of our preference (I ordered the soup of the day, black bean soup, and it was a bit too spicy for me but still tasty). Definitely upgrade to a side tossed salad. Our daughter loved her fries. They were super accommodating for children. There was no kids menu but she was happy with fries. I strongly recommend a visit to this quaint little restaurant in West Hillhurst. So charming and such a great experience.

I am in town for biz and the locals im staying with recommended Dairy Lane. I went for dinner and got the Taco special, it was good, not amazing, but i thought over priced for the amount of meat on the tacos...anyways.

I had an unfortunate experience when I returned for breakfast this morning. I am allergic to peas (i know, who is allergic to peas?? I love them, its not a high maintenance thing!)... my eggs bene was delivered to my table promptly and i noticed that the garnish used looked alot like pea shoots. I inquired to the wait staff immediately, and they did their best to find out if they were pea shoots....couldnt.. and quickly offered to make a new one. The wait staff and me exchanged alternating apologies and they tried their best to remove my feelings of being a bother. I normally mention the allergy, but didnt anticipate such a beautiful garnish for my bene.

The problems began when they informed the kitchen staff. I heard the chef dismissing the allergy, and being very annoyed. I was sitting directly by the cash area, and he then came out of the kitchen and looked something up on the internet.... stomping away saying, those werent pea shoots and we have wasted so much money now!! I promptly offered to pay for both meals... the wait staff apologized again and again, attempting to make me feel better... but i was bothered by the chefs reactions.

In the end, they didnt charge for my coffee, and took an additional 10% off my bill. This action was appreciated, but I did not enjoy my time there.... and I will not be returning. I do hope that the owner is aware of the attitude of the chef, and how he is impacting the experience of...

Wow. First time eating here. The place seems very small (however there may be more space around the corner which you cannot see - I did not investigate). We had a group of about 8 people and were served by a fantastic staff member. I could not believe she could remember everyones drinks without writing anything down - you can tell she is seasoned. Also the staff member was very polite and knowledgeable.

For a drink I had an Americano. I do not think I was asked if I wanted it black or with room though. Not enough of a reason to take away a star though.

For food, I had a vegetarian Tostada. So many ingredients and very delicious. There was an option to substitute tofu and vegan cheese for eggs and dairy at no extra charge. Good portion size, I took the rest home to eat the next day.

Seating area was fine - I sat on a chair. No wobble. Table was clean as were the menus (I don't like a dirty looking menu!).

The overall scene was inviting and warm in the place. They had covered their artwork on the walls to look like wrapped Christmas presents - a nice touch.

The music was good. Not too loud so conversation is hindered and a hint of festive, having gone around Christmas.

Would...
