Maybe I had a bad visit … but there were multiple things: overall, 75% of the food went in the compost. So I feel like I just threw out 50$ as I had to go home and make more food for my kids.
Iccyburg got the order wrong. It was clearly communicated, but they added things I had not asked for. I clearly said, : just a plain double burger with only ketchup and pickles. Unfortunately, you can’t pick cheese off and my son is allergic so we had to do the uncomfortable thing and ask them to remake it. So I had to be “that person” who asked for them to redo it. When I first told them their mistake they denied it- I literally had to lift the bun and show them. Really? Just remake it, next time. Believe me, no one wants to have to ask for it to be remade, don’t make it worse by not believing them.
When the food finally came back the bun was burnt. The burger meat was over cooked and had no flavour, and there was a HAIR cooked into the meat. I tried to get a picture of the hair but I was also trying to be discrete with my phone as I don’t want to gross out my son, so I don’t know if I caught it. It was hanging off and long and black. My son can eat a triple burger from A&w in a sitting plus onion rings no problem but he only ate half of the double burger because he said it “just isn’t very good”. I tasted it and the only “flavour” was burnt edges. The patty was so thin it barely held together and had NO flavour. Like use some seasoning or something. Even salt. It made me think they took the cheese off and washed it and scraped it because the burgers in the picture had literally twice the meat. I’m kind of shocked at this and hope it isn’t the case as it could cause an allergic reaction for my son’s breathing … but thankfully he is fine for now… so if they did wash it (and it certainly tasted that way) then it was washed well. If that’s a compliment?!
The onion rings were the same as from my high school cafeteria but overcooked. The falafel was pre-made and obviously pre- purchased from Costco or something. It was dry. The salad would have been better if they continued the trend of heating up others’ food as a bagged salad would have been better. As it were it was just 3 cups of lettuce with two slices of diced pickle and half of a thin slice of tomato. They gave 1 tbsp of Italian dressing to go with the dry falafel and plain salad. When I asked for more they gave me a smaller container with just a teaspoon of Italian dressing in it.
I mean, it’s this kind of place that makes me reconsider tipping. We threw out over half the burger with a side of hair, all of the onion rings (except the one that I shared with my son to verify that he was correct, they were over cooked and gross) and half of the salad.
I hope they’ll either start charging more and using the money to buy spices or hair...
Read moreUpdate June 2025: If you love yourself, get a samosa on your burger. If you know yourself, get 2. Tell me you have experienced that flavour before. No, you haven’t. I have. And now I wish it upon you, friend.
Listen to me now. I don’t mean to be arrogant, but I may be a world-class expert on chicken fingers. These are serious business. Made in house, crispy, well seasoned, not too salty, real chicken breast.
The fries are crispy and again perfectly seasoned.
The burgers have a HARD sear on them. Perfection. The donair slice as an optional topping is both unique but also sensational.
It’s fresh, quality, and tasty. Just eat this.
Update January 2025: Calling all vegans. The smashed vegetable samosa burger is stand-alone one of the best Indian treats out there (source: am Indian). The samosa is really flavourful on its own. But in the context of the soft-bunned burger, it had an unexpected and satisfying crunch. I anticipated a chewy mass of soft-on-soft but was delighted by a very engaging texture. Then they put a light green mint sauce and a sweet brown tamarind sauce on top of it (in addition to crunchy lettuce, onion, and creamy guacamole). I really don’t like mint and tamarind (again, I know what I’m about, being Indian). But I trust these guys so I had it the way they make it as-is. And I ate it and I loved it and I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m paralyzed by the desire to order another on on Skip when really I should just go to sleep. There’s always tomorrow, my crunchy...
Read moreDefinitely one of the best fast-food burger places in Calgary. Located on 19 Street commercial district, it is very near to North Hill and Kensington, which makes it for a very good location.
The staff are very nice and welcoming, offering a good service throughout the restaurant. The place offers table service. I feel like the prices here are overpriced for meals, being a fast-food place, as a person coming here everyday sometimes.
The food in question, are very crispy and savoury. As the food being overpriced, I usually get the Fries and a drink whenever I come here. Love the seasoning on the fries and are very crispy. As a student at a nearby school, it is very cool they have a Student Special for its meals. They only have a selection of drinks here but offer standard drinks. iyycburg also has a self-serve machine, placed in the restaurant around last year, which is very cool. The place is also very decorated and has street parking only. Located across the street from an ice cream shop, Made by Marcus. They have ice cream here but not like the ice cream across the street. They also have a gaming machine and a Wall of Fame.
Living in Hillhurst, it is close nearby to my residence and near to shopping malls and districts. Around the 12PM hour, the place is very busy and overcrowded due to Lunch for school, but tapers off after.
Overall, a very good burger place to...
