I have never enjoyed an event enough to go everyday. Seeing the carvers in action, the progress of the artwork, the completed sculptures... Wow. We stopped in twice a day each day of the competition to check in on progress. Parking was not a problem, but may be as popularity increases in coming years. You may have a chance to talk to the artists, but you definitely feel amazing just being witness to the creativity, enormity, variety of designs and sheer talent. The final day offers the chance to see quick carves done in an hour - looking like they could have taken a week! Bid on them and take them home. Unfortunately, we were not able to bid on one this year, but that didn't stop my six-year-old from attempting a $2000 bid for a giant bear carving! Maybe next year, Little Lady. I would recommend this event to anyone of any age. Snacks and merchandise are available for sale on site. The rec center is available nearby. If you have any breathing difficulties, consider at least having a mask and puffers on hand if sawdust is a problem for you. There was fine cedar dust in the air, but I had no problems with it, even though I thought I might. Watch skilled artists from around the world make killer art. Just go. Amazing.

Chetwynd, B.C. is the town for the International Chainsaw Carving held annually 2nd weekend of June. They carvings are scattered throughout the community. The visitor center can provide you with a map listing all the carvings, it's location etc. If you can visit during that time, it would be an experience. They have over 200 carvings in the community all along the highways & streets. Fun day walking & driving around looking at all the artwork.

Charming town with lots of chainsaw carvings around it. Worth to stop and see, but I guess you need to make many stops as the statues are all over the town and all of them are interesting to see.

As I was entering this small town I noticed some beautiful carvings spaced out down both sides of the highway. I parked in a wide parking area along side of some carvings so I could have something to eat in my car. This is when I really noticed how many carving there actually are. The carvers in this area are to be praised for the work they do, you van tell the are natural born artists. I have seen an awful lot of carvings in my day but absolutely nothing which compares to these. I was sad it was raining so hard otherwise I would've got out to get some fantastic shots. The Spider Man carving looked so life like I was totally amazed. Some day I would like to go back up there just to have a real good look at all of them. Oh, and to let you know the carvings are on both sides of town as you enter and then in the center area they are pretty much side by side. Definitely...

These are Absolutely Incredible! Mythical beasties, and athletes, and movie characters, and gods & monsters, animals and more! The detail is breathtaking, and the town of Chetwynd is literally covered in them (like, hundreds, I think). Chetwynd is a beautiful town in a beautiful place, these carvings are just one more reason to visit! They're from contests, so these are representative of a bunch of different incredibly talented artists. (Watch out for the giant praying mantis beside Tim Horton's, it's a little unnerving, lol) Go...
