My family had a few hours left to spare on a warm Wednesday afternoon. My mom opened her map and saw "Maplewood Farm" - it sounded interesting, so I did a search on Yelp and read some great reviews. So we hoped into our car and headed for Maplewood Farm.

Going to the farm was definitely a highlight of my trip to Vancouver. We got there around 1:30 PM (the farm closes at 4), and still had plenty of time to wander around. Only my sister and I went into the farm (it was $7.25 for adult admission and $4.50 for child admission). If you check into Maplewood Farm on Yelp, you get a free bag of birdseed! My sister and I both checked in and got two big bags of birdseed (which sells for $3/bag).

The farm itself isn't too big. There are horses, cows, miniature donkeys, pigs, goats, sheep, a new baby calf, bunnies, birds, peacocks, roosters, guinea pigs, and lots and lots of ducks! If you love animals (especially interacting with them), you'll love Maplewood Farm. There was only a few other families besides my sister and me, so we basically had the farm to ourselves. We pet the bunnies, took pictures with the cows and horses, talked to the miniature donkeys, had the goats rub their heads against our legs, fed the ducks by the small pond ... it was incredibly fun.

The animals are well taken care of and there are name plaques by their station. While we walked through the farm, we saw the farmhands and helpers working with the animals. When my sister and I were looking at the cows, one of the farm workers walked behind us and told us that we were taking a picture of Sofie and I could tell by the way her head quickly snapped up that she recognized her.

The best part was feeding the ducks! I noticed there was another bigger pond towards the back of the farm (where you cross a small bridge to get to it) and I was blown away by the breathtaking view of the pond. A great date spot if you ever want a romantic view and somewhere to just talk! We fed the ducks and took lots of pictures. And because we stayed until closing time, we had the privilege of seeing the animals be led back into their stables/homes and fed their dinner.

Some picnic benches if you want to eat, and I know they have yearly passes where you can drop by and visit the animals from time to time as well. A small playground on the outside of the farm. Lots of sinks and hand sanitizing stations, and even a shoe cleaner near the entrance of the farm!

tl;dr if you love animals, you have to check out Maplewood Farm! A great place for children and even adults! Well worth the money. Check in on Yelp for a free bag...

amazing. great place to for kids of all ages. im looking at you, grandma & grandpa.! seriously the pygmy goats are hilarious & so adorable... yet extremely mischievous all at the same time. they will try to nimble & eat away at anything u got. be it shoelaces, your sleeve, purse, coat. if it's within reach of their mouths then they want to take a. taste test. it's actually quite funny but if you have little ones then i want u to forewarned. you might want to keep an eye out - especially on the new young pygmys that are welcomed to the farm every year around baby season. haha. they're the worst offenders. but they make up for it when they put on a show for you and start to play fight. they stand right up on their hind legs - staring one another down - then they bash their little bitty baby horns into one another.! the cows are great. Lima, the jersey cow, she's a little more reserved & shy. but the other cows like to be petted & scratched. a couple of times the staff have allowed me to use their brushes (obviously designated for the animals) that they keep in the staff barn, so that I could give them a good brushing. but I go out of my way. I freaking LUV cows.! PS... they are SO BIG that the little ones may be intimidated by their size but trust me.... they never bite. they are super gentle, luvable giants.! make sure to buy some seed at the front entrance when u get there so u can feed the ducks & never bring outside food for the animals. it's a big no no.! don't miss the demonstration on goat milking in the early afternoon. it's at 130 I think.! don't quote me on that. horse back rides (sorry adults - for the kids only) on weekends. bring a packed lunch because they have tables & benches outside (plus covered ones) & even a brand new eating area inside. don't miss going for a relaxing walk around the serene, tranquil pond they have on the opposite side of the property. super friendly & knowledgeable staff. FYI they are...

Unfriendly Staff. My family and I came to Maplewood Farms a couple months ago. I made the mistake of mixing up the times when the farm closed. So we had about an hour upon arrival. When I double checked the times with the staff they had a good laugh like it was a bit joke. I did not find it funny. I genuinely got the time mixed up and it was an error on my behalf. I asked them if an hour was enough time to walk through. If we would be able to enjoy the time inside and see the animals. They assured me yes, an hour is more than enough time. I told them I didn’t want to feel rushed out of the park. They assured me they do no such thing. What a lie that was. There was hardly any animals in their enclosure. About 30 minutes from closing animals were being rushed into the barn. One young staff member. She looked like it could be a summer job was mimicking young kids laughing and pointing at the animals. None of the parents said anything but it took every ounce of everything to not put this young girl in place. To have respect for visitors. We left about 10 minutes before closing. I wanted to take a photo of my daughter on the tracker (which was at the entrance). What do you know! They locked it up! I found the day a complete waste of money. Staff are rude and very unfriendly. Thankfully the cure animals out weight the horrendous atmosphere of this place. Would I go back again? Yes, for my daughter. But I wouldn’t go back for anybody else. Please work on being more patient and friendly to visitors. And don’t lock up the old tractor until the front gates are closed. That’s like locking a parkade but still having a...

Review of Maplewood Farm – A Hidden Gem in North Vancouver Maplewood Farm is a delightful oasis tucked away in North Vancouver—a place that charms visitors of all ages. I had no idea goats could be so affectionate! They walk right up to you, seemingly eager for connection, with those mesmerizing horizontal pupils that make you feel truly seen. The farm is home to an endearing mix of animals—peacocks, goats, sheep, horses, ponies, roosters, cows, and more. It is a feast for the senses and a joy to experience up close. Whether you are visiting with kids or simply looking to reconnect with nature, the atmosphere is friendly, educational, and filled with gentle energy. There is ample free parking, and the admission is quite affordable, making it a great choice for a low-cost, high-enjoyment outing. It is especially magical for children—an enriching way to spend a few hours that is both fun and memorable. The staff are kind, the grounds are well-kept, and the whole place radiates warmth. Highly recommended for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to slow down and enjoy something real.
