Goderich Lighthouse — Attraction in Goderich

This place is very rustic and requires a lot of upgrades. When we arrived and saw the sign for downtown on the same post as the general store, pub and LCBO we knew we had arrived. Positive: close to beach quiet area (even though downtown Mount Albert) people seemed friendly next to the general store, pub and LCBO good size home for a large crowd (10 or more people) very clean fire pit close to a park wifi, tv nice veranda right next to a piece of history (former wood mill, turned to fishery etc) short drive to Goderich Areas of improvement: no a/c; not enough fans to go around low water pressure (to take a shower upstairs and open a tap downstairs) steep stairs to climb to go upstairs (not ideal for older adults) most two prong power outlets sunroom cannot be enjoyed on hot summer days appliances not the best - one fridge feezes everything put in; freezer hard to open not clear on paying to put garbage and recycling into bins one of the bathroom doors cannot be locked (barrel lock does not line up) no dishwasher or a dish rack to dry dishes furniture dated and need cleaning; many couches and chairs too low to sit on especially for older adults a floor register on the main floor was missing where one can easily fall in. Because there were very young kids and older adults and to prevent accidents, had to move a register from upstairs to cover it. dog friendly (open space) but not fenced in so need to stay with the pet and watch out for the chickens from next door that like to visit,...

Breathtaking Views & Family Memories Visiting the Goderich Lighthouse was such a special experience for our family! The view of Lake Huron from the top is absolutely stunning—especially during sunset. We reached there just in time to watch the sun dip into the water, painting the sky with incredible colours. It felt magical, and the kids were in awe.

The area around the lighthouse is well-kept, with benches and open space for the little ones to run around safely. We took lots of family photos with the lighthouse and the lake in the background—definitely memories we’ll cherish. It’s a peaceful, scenic spot that makes you slow down and really enjoy the moment. Beautiful place with stunning views of Lake Huron. There are a few swings for kids close to the lighthouse. Long series of steps going down from the lighthouse takes you directly to Christopher beach and the boardwalk. Coming up wasn't fun but a great workout!
