Finally made the drive out here after seeing all the amazing photos of this place for years, I’m not from the region so it took me over an hour to get here. After coming all this way, I enter the paid parking area, begin the walk, and come to a ā€œtrail closedā€ sign.

I’m absolutely fine with paid parking for the hiking trails in this region, it helps maintain everything and I fully support that. But if a trail is closed, shouldn’t there be a sign indicating that before you enter the paid parking area with no way out other than to pay? I did not come all this way to pay $8 to see a lookout that takes under 5 minutes to complete. If I was from around here and had the pass, it wouldn’t be as frustrating. But that’s unfortunately not the case.

I tried looking at the maps to see if I missed a second trail but didn’t find anything helpful. If there is something that I missed, I will adjust my review in a heartbeat. But others should know before coming that the trail down to the lower falls is currently closed, only the cliff edge lookouts can be...

Took a drive from Toronto with high expectations based on their website and reviews. Was very disappointed to say the least. The bakery was closed so we didn’t get any fresh baked goods. Enjoyed the hiking trails, even though they’re not very clearly marked, but did see some colourful trees.. There was absolutely no water (very confused as to how it dries up šŸ¤” I’d really appreciate some explanation)! as I’ve never seen a dried up waterfall! Glad I didn’t have to pay to park , even though it’s only $5. I think it would be enjoyable if it was actually like the photos on their website and people reviews. Is there a certain time, month, to visit and actually see the waterfall with water? And they should also mention the bakery is only open from Wednesday to Sunday. Went to Albion falls. There was water to be seen but only from the lookout, however we did get some decent photos. Decided to head to Niagara Falls as it was only a 45 minute drive from hamilton and with a guarantee of seeing water falling from...

I went on a mom and son hike to Punchbowl. It was the best experience ever. I parked alongside the road and entered through the opening which leads to the base of the falls. It was very rugged and a bit tricky to get to the actual Punchbowl itself. The first set of falls are breathtaking then we had to climb our way to the base of the Devil's Punchbowl. It was totally worth it! We spent about 20 minutes revelling in the beauty of the falls. Loved the array of colours from the sedimentary rocks. Then it was off to climb up the steep hill to get to the lookout, which was on the other side. It was a challenge but the stunning views overlooking Stoney Creek and Hamilton was totally worth it. After a grueling hike we walked to the Punchbowl bakery and treated ourselves to some refreshing drinks and pastries. Would...

My Stepson, my exwife and I spent the afternoon exploring the Devil's Punchbowl. It was alot of fun and not for the faint of heart. Some of the trails were pretty narrow and difficult to navigate. But well worth the effort. We had a great time and got some amazing pictures. I would absolutely recommend going there in the fall with all the leaves turned colour and blanketing the ground. Truly a beautiful sight. Once you get up to the punchbowl itself and see all those layers of rock sediment it is truly humbling. To know all those layers represent history in the millions of years is awe inspiring. I would absolutely recommend going there if you can. Just make sure you wear good hiking footwear. As the trails can be quite daunting. 5 stars for sure.

For waterfalls chasers, the Devil’s Punchbowl can be a big bowl of deception in the middle of a dry summer. On dry days, there is absolutely no water to be seen anywhere in the ā€œPunch Bowlā€ (the Devil drank it all). The humongous bowl shaped rock formation/cliff is still an impressive sight, but not as impressive as it would be with a waterfall flowing through it. Otherwise, there are some okay hiking rails in the area. The stop is located right off the road, which is also a bit of a throw off. Other than the devil’s Punchbowl itself, there’s a scenic lookout point with a view over Hamilton, Lake Ontario, and at a very far distance, Toronto. Nothing too spectacular, however.
