I recently visited this place as it comes up on the top for sushi around Stoney Creek area. I ordered the Small Party Tray that has 40pcs. Overall, I liked the place but would need to try others in the area to see what would be my go-to around here. Since it was a mix of different types of sushi, I liked most but not all. Another reason I gave them a 4 star is because I had specifically asked them to replace the California rolls for another set of spicy salmon roll but instead they gave me salmon and avocado which was too bland and not something I ever get. Plus they charged me extra for the replacement. I also somewhat agree with another reviewer about the person over the phone. Although, the person wasn't overly rude, but I did find them a bit disrespectful as the voice was cutting off during my take out order. They ended up yelling over the phone so I could hear even though I told them that they were breaking up and I didn't feel that there was a need for yelling. I would give 3.5 just for the sushi so bumped it to 4. The 40 piece tray however is decently priced.
Order included- salmon avocado rolls, Crab rolls Spicy Salmon rolls, Crunch rolls, 3 Salmon sushi, 2pcs Tuna sushi 2pcs...
Read moreAbsolutely stellar little sushi house. I’m quite confident I’m on my 7th or 8th consecutive Friday/Saturday night order. Recommend all the nigiri, the futomaki is magnificent, the Saba Tataki is deep and complex (quick-cured mackerel, it’s briney/savoury/tart/sweet all at once with a beautiful buttery finish on the palate.) Note, you will need to cut this into slices yourself at home as it’s basically a whole mackerel filet that’s been scored and marinated/cured but it’s not cut through.
I don’t get into the elaborate cream cheese/orange mayo/dragon rainbow roll stuff but I’m sure if you like those ones they would be exquisite from Chef Martin.
This place knows what they’re doing and doesn’t offer endless mediocre dishes, they focus on what they can pull off well and just shine at that.
I will admit I do wish they offered Inari, however I’m not going to question it, they know what they’re doing and I’m sure there is a reason if they...
Read moreAbsolutely love this place. My partner and I have been looking for a good sushi spot on the mountain that's good value and does the spicy/crispy tuna/salmon rolls right. Sushi O' Fennel has been great but is too inconsistent with their hours, and parking there is a bit of a pain. Beyond that we didn't find the sushi combination options to be the best. I'm not sure how we missed Chef Martin's Sushi house for so long (it sounds like they opened in December 2019), but we're so happy we've found them! Our go to order choice is the chef's choice sushi 10 piece with the Spicy roll set. Comes to $40 all in and you get good portions that will fill you. Rolls taste great and the fish is fresh! Very solid option for affordable take out sushi that's in a convenient location. Would...
