The food is probably good here but I really don’t or can’t eat that much, I met my sister (07/05/2023) for lunch. Must be doing something right as their parking lot was jammed full, we met for a light lunch. My sister doesn’t eat that much, and neither do I, the waitress was kind, pleasant and accommodating. Placed our order, my sister got a Western sandwich and a coffee, I just ordered the Garden Salad with the House dressing and glass water. Food arrived quickly, I normally don’t eat there as I’m not from Stoney Creek, ON area. My sister has gone here many times, she didn’t say anything about her Western (they’re not that hard to make, egg beat up with some ingredients). My salad, sorry to say was disappointing, they had leave lettuce (not Iceberg lettuce) with a few veggies amongst it, maybe 2 plu tomatoes, couple small pieces of cucumber, small strips of red peppers. Did not like the House dressing? They had other options like Ranch, Thousand Island’s and a few more. Needless to say I didn’t even finish it, maybe ate about 1/4th of it. I’m not dissing the restaurant, it was my fault I chose the wrong dressing and I don’t like leaf lettuce. We’ve been here before on occasions, when our parents were alive for family meals. I had intentions of getting the French Onion soup-Oh well, win some, lose some, no biggie (maybe next time I’ll get something different in their huge selection of dishes. Good atmosphere, quiet, booths are comfortable and staff...
Read moreThe first time we came to The Village we were less than impressed. It took a long time to be seated and when we were, it was to a dirty table. The server then continued to clean it while we there, spraying us with cleaner and whiping the remainder of other people's food and mess on us... We didn't come back for a LONG TIME.
Decided to give it another shot when my cousin was visiting as he wanted to go. It was better then so my boyfriend and I went again yesterday and WOW!! HUGE improvement. Everything was perfect. The staff were friendly and hilarious. The lady who seated us was making me lmao with her genuine character. Everyone was festive for Easter and the place looked great. Very vibrant... A full house with very happy looking customers. Happy vibes, we really felt welcomed. The food was picture perfect, I would rate the food 5 stars alone. Great quality, portions and value. They went above and beyond... She even served me my side of soup before the meal came... I LOVE it when servers do that(that's why it's not in the picture so don't let it deter you into thinking it wasn't picture perfect... It was!!)!!
We got the veggie stir fry and famous clubhouse with a side of tomatoe soup. Sorry no picture of that... I nearly inhaled it, it was so tasty. Good coffee too. Keep up the great work guys. Mistakes happen. You've got to be very careful who you hire. Good help is hard to find but you nailed it...
Read moreThe village restaurant is a historic landmark within the town of stoney creek. There are photos hanging across the walls showing old timey moments from local history. I'm a sucker for this stuff. The food is good too. I had a big omelet and it tasted amazing. There were some home fries with it and orange juice. The juice was actually rather nice, I was surprised at the level of quality I would taste in orange juice. There was a hint of some sort of aromatic orange peel in it. The home fries were kind of forgettable. But that's not why I rated this somewhat low. The reason is that I went here on an ordinary Tuesday when there wasn't a lot of other people and somehow, the service took a million years. It's not that any of the servers are specifically are hostile or rude. In fact, the servers are all quite friendly. But they tend to wander around confused about what they're doing. One of the servers sat us down and then left us and it was like 10 minutes until we got our actual server. Even then, after taking our order we were waiting for quite a bit to actually get the food. And it's always like this. Slow. In spite of it being ok I do strongly suggest it simply because it is otherwise a pretty nice place and an important part of this city. Just make sure when you're there you have time, patience, and some interesting...
