At the time I went, there was a young lad in the DJ booth, and he was far too young to know the music that was being requested by me. He knew current day howeverI had requested some old rollerskating tunes from the 70’s , he didn’t have any of that music apparently. So when I was less specific and said play any 70s roller skating tunes, hip-hop that was popular back then he couldn’t because he didn’t understand the genre, and was probably just a baby when that music was popular. I was little baffled by this because if you’re in an environment like this you should be well aware of this music. I travelled 2 1/2 hours in a storm just to get here only to hear music from Madonna and the Like. Food and drinks are expensive nor did I feel they were edible for my family. The pro shop is very expensive and overly priced and should not be called a pro shop as the supply was very limited and not have pro quality. If you plan on going you may want to bring your own skates, because from what I understand their wheels are really worn down and do not provide a smooth ride. My daughter tried on approximately 8 to 10 pairs, And had to work too hard to make her way around the rink. Now on a positive note, the rink is really big (but does have some uneven flooring that is very noticeable at the farthest and from the DJ booth). The music is nice and loud with excellent equipment, the place has excellent lighting for that fun rollerskating vibe, with carpet to match, the carpet is very fun and reminds me of a Ginuwine rollerskating rink. They do have a pool table and I believe AirHockey. They do have lockers but be prepared to travel with change if you have children as it can get quite pricey. Be prepared to pay an arm and a leg to keep hydrated because for pops(500ml) was $10. As far as getting there from East End it was pretty straightforward following the GPS and was not hard to find. If you keep your eye out for the big sign out front as you see in the pictures you can’t miss it. 15 times better than the rink in Oshawa. Would I go to Scooters again? Absolutely, the environment reminds me exactly how I remember it it however I will be more prepared with regard to the...
Read moreIf I could give this place a ZERO I would. This was my first time going here and I was treated with complete disrespect with the whole 15 mins I was there.
With just a second or so of being in the circle and NO rules posted for "where you should skate" just "keep going and no stopping" I was yelled at and pushed to go into the center, instead of being politely asked.
Trying to have some fun.. I pulled out my phone to take a video of my friend and before I knew it another members started yelling at me saying, " I'm off if he has to tell me again and blah blah ." I just apologize cause i was unaware that this was a rule.. again with no rules posted ANYWHERE.
Getting there at 10:00 knowing they close at 11:00, We were completely okay with cause we were just excited to go. After all of this disrespect and being yelled at within 7 mins.. they decided to kick everyone who cant skate backwards off the circle to allow the people who can skate backward skate. WELL for 1. We cant skated backwards And 2. Before that people were still skating backwards.. so why did they need special time? Again this was not posted anywhere and if we knew we wouldnt have gone..
Deciding enough was enough, we decided to leave. We thought we'd talk to the manager, let him be aware of this and let him know we were NOT happy. The whole time he was defensive and said well rule are rules.. :/
I am completely okay with following rule, ALL I'm saying is post them and let people aware instead of yelling and...
Read moreScooter's is just pure joy through and though. Been coming here since I was a kid. It's one of the last authentic rinks we have access to and it's just so sad to know eventually some stupid condos will go in it's place. The adult skates are a whole bunch of people who have been skating their whole lives and everyone is so uplifting and friendly. The music they play during the adult skates really speaks to me as a bunch is from the late 70s and early 80s skating era but there is also a ton from 90s and through to present day. They do a really good job of mixing in all sorts of goodies. The all-ages skates are extremely busy these days. I think it's a combination of being such a cool and unique experience for people to come try at any ages and just being the only rink around. My hope is that when the condos finally come in that someone takes the concept and moves to a new location as it would be sorely missed by a lot of people. I really can't believe how busy it can get on Fridays and Saturdays. There is a HUGE amount of interest in skating and a new facility would hopefully do very well if they could just figure out the overhead that Roller Pony obviously couldn't handle. Apparently attendance dies off in the summer and so rinks need to make their money oct- April basically. Hopefully a new place will be manageable as it would be a shame to have no skating rink at all. Maybe a group of us could resurrect the roller gardens in...
