An absolute highlight of Montreal Botanical Garden! I was looking forward to seeing this section of the garden as I have heard amazing things, and I was not disappointed! In fact, it became one of my most favorite parts of the entire visit. The garden is meticulously designed in a stunning Chinese style, complete with pagodas, pavilions and moon bridges. The careful arrangement of plants, water and stones creates a sense of harmony and tranquility, especially in the early morning when it's relatively quiet. Unfortunately the popularity of the garden takes its toll as the day progresses and gets very busy, even on a rainy day. I'd suggest coming here first thing in the morning and then continue with the rest of the gardens. There are no food or drink options here. In fact, nowhere in the gardens, so bringing your own would not be a bad idea. I could totally easily imagine a little stand or stall selling authentic Chinese tea, as I experienced in another Chinese garden in Manheim, Germany, and it added an extra level of enjoyment to the experience. Overall, the Chinese garden is a picturesque place, offering photo opportunities at every turn. It's also an excellent spot to relax, whether on one of the benches or inside a pagoda. There is a little yard behind the main pavilion featuring a rock garden and bonsai that is worth checking out! Visited on a rainy Saturday, July 2023.

I have mixed feelings about Chinese Garden. One, this garden is the most beautiful garden in Botanical Garden in Montreal, and another is I'm not crazy about non-plants or decoration stuff like fake flamingo, sculpture on the lake, etc. I want to see how beauty of nature is not the pure human creator without applying plants or flowers. When I bought the ticket, they asked me if I'm interested in coming back around 7PM for lighting event with the same price I paid, just make a reservation because maybe it limits capacity. I didn't want to come so I feel that I made the right choice after seeing all garden in this park I don't feel that so special I have to see it again.

The Chinese garden is probably one of the main highlights of the Botanical Gardens here in Montreal. The Chinese temples and layout of this section would have you believe you're actually visiting a temple somewhere in China. It really is quite beautiful, and a must visit while you're here. Note however that as I write this review, in July 2022, the Chinese pavilion and surrounding lake are currently under renovations, so keep that in mind if you'd like to visit in the near future. The rest of the Chinese gardens are accessible and still beautiful, but certainly not as complete with the renos in progress.

The Chinese Garden is the best part of the Jardin Botanique! Here you could see how the definition and aesthetics of "garden" varies among different cultures. Even as a Chinese Canadian, I found the garden to be well designed, constructed and maintained. It is also a great place for the photography lover, especially those into architecture photography. It was a pity, however, that they didn't have any bonsai in the courtyard when I visited.

A place of contrast and harmony, rustic and asymmetrical at first glance, is created according to rigorous aesthetic principles. The spacial organization, the selection of plants and minerals, the water and the contrast of yin and yang express the secular principles of the Chinese art of landscape design. In September and October - the festival: Gardens of Light - hundreds of colourful silk lanterns that create evenings of pure enchantment.

Very cute even in the winter. There was ice. Everywhere. If there is not snow on the ground, expect loads of ice. Mind you this is from a West Coaster so maybe I’m the dork telling everyone what they already know! My bruised bum just wants me to let you know! The buildings are beautiful, and it was nice to see the trees with their greenery on them! Felt like the most developed area of the gardens.
