Les Jardins des Floralies, located on Île Notre‑Dame within Parc Jean‑Drapeau in Montréal — a beautifully landscaped legacy of a major horticultural festival.

🌷 Overview

Originally created for the Floralies Internationales de Montréal in 1980, this garden showcases thematic plots designed by international landscape artists. Over 20 countries contributed gardens during the expo, offering a diverse botanical experience

Today, the gardens span about 25 hectares, filled with thousands of flowers, trees, and shrubs, and they feature permanent mosaiculture sculptures—giant plant artworks made of hundreds of thousands of flowers—dotted throughout the grounds .

🏞 Experience Highlights

Scenic and Serene: Set beside tranquil lagoons, the gardens offer restful spots for walking, reading, birdwatching, or picnicking amidst lush plantings

Mosaicultures: These living sculptures blend art and horticulture, now a standout feature of the gardens

Historic Planting: Among the flora, a tree planted by former Québec Premier René Lévesque remains a piece of living history

📅 Visiting Info

Location: 1 Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montréal, QC H3C 1A9 (Île Notre‑Dame, Parc Jean‑Drapeau)

Hours: Open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., year-round

Admission: Free entry (parking fees may apply if you drive)

🚇 How to Get There

Public Transit: Take the Yellow Line (Jean‑Drapeau station) on the Metro, then walk or cycle to the gardens. Nearby bus lines include 15, 777, and 767

Walking/Biking: Paths from nearby attractions such as the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and lagoons make it a scenic walk or ride

🎯 Why It’s Worth a Visit

A peaceful oasis combining art, horticulture, and landscape architecture.

Reflects a rich part of Montréal’s horticultural history and international exchange.

Perfect for relaxing outdoors, enjoying botanical displays, or discovering bold living sculptures.

Montreal is certainly full of surprises and neighborhoods, buildings, and parks steeped in history, and you should definitely include the Jardins des Floralies in your visit, whether you're a tourist or a local.

The garden is located within Circuit Gilles and has on-site parking, which you can pay for by the day (as there's much more to see than just the garden) or purchase a pass for just a few hours. I recommend visiting the entire space, as there's plenty to do, including a public swimming pool.

The garden is simply incredible, and every year they exhibit art made with trees, flowers, and branches from the garden itself, an open-air art spectacle. The sculptures are different every year, and depending on the time of year, you might be able to participate in an event featuring local music and food, as I did.

There are drinking fountains and public restrooms within the garden.

For visitors with disabilities or limited mobility, access to the garden is via a staircase that crosses the running track. Please speak to the staff for assistance.

There is a beautiful mosaic exhibit. There are ice cream trucks, food trucks, a lot of seating picnic tables., it's a huge event. It's really worth the time to come and see it. You have to cross the little bridge to get on to the racetrack. Before the actually walking on the racetrack, you have to turn right and walk. Maybe two hundred meters then on the left hand side there's going to be stairs you cross them and then you'll be able to reach the gardens. If you want to come by bike, don't take the section to the stairs. Continue going straight and then you'll be able to cross the racetrack directly and reach the gardens from a different way. There is also paid parking. I don't know how much it is. I came by bike. The event itself is free. I recommend coming early because a lot of people are interested in seeing this . I came at 10 AM and it was pretty good. On s afridsy. But a lot of people were coming like, I passed a lot of people on the...
