I was excited to visit this museum as I believe I may be a descendant of the Kings daughters. My grandmother was born in Quebec and spoke French. I took French in high school (many years ago and unfortunately have forgotten it) and always felt a strong bond with the people of Quebec. That being said, I feel differently now after visiting the Maison Saint Gabriel. There was a general coldness from most of the staff there (a few were somewhat welcoming). We arrived on a Wednesday at 2:45 for a 3:00 pm tour. We were told the tour was only in French, but there would be a 4:00 tour in English, a self guided tour on our cellphones. Obviously, we had to take the second option. The puzzling part was that we were the only people there the whole afternoon. So there was no 3:00 pm French tour. No one interacted at all with us at the 4:00 pm self guided tour. It was somewhat interesting, although we learned very little about the Filles Du Roi.
