Lovely park, we didn't get to explore it all but there seemed to be almost everything one could want there.... even an equestrian area. What drew us into this location was the fantastic dog park. There is a short paved walk way to walk down from other areas of the park or you can park right close to the fenced in doggy area. There are also doggy bag stations all over the park and path ways, which makes for a no excuse environment...to pickup after your pooch.... Which we loved.... It kept the grounds clean and smell free. The Off Leash dog area is well set up and thought out. There is a big dog enclosure and a small dog enclosure and everyone is quite friendly. We are from out of town and wanted somewhere relatively quick to stop and let the girls out and we ended up spending just over an hour there....(and would have loved to have stayed longer) Playing fetch, walking around and chatting with other dog owners....... It was amazing how we all shared stories, even with the small dog owners over the fence line......and it was great to see all the pooches running around and getting along, and all sizes able to meet through the chain link fence. It truely was a wonderful experience and we will definitely go back when we go through with the...

Another great urban park in Nanaimo. This one is where the BMX track is and races/meets are held. Beban is also home to Altrusa park which is my daughter's favourite playground in town. There are a couple of ice rinks on site, one is the Frank Crane Arena and the home of the Nanaimo Clippers, as well as a swimming pool and conference rooms in the main complex. Down the hill you'll find stables, baseball diamond(s?) and what I am told are world class footy pitches before reaching the BMX track near the Southeastern corner which is where you'll find an off-leash dog park as well. A bunch of tennis courts (guessing 10 or 12 with coin-op night lights too I believe) are immediately visible if you enter @ the 1st driveway from the South off Bowen Road. Adjacent to that is the pitch & putt that was reduced to 11 holes to accommodate the installation of a driving range. The Northern most piece of the park is forested with walking trails and some outdoor exercise equipment sporadically placed throughout, if memory serves. It's been years since I've done the trails but all in all another great urban park. It's lacking a basketball court. As far as I know there are a couple hoops in the playground parking lot but no actual...

The Clippers rock! We will be renewing our seasons tickets this year. Great product put out on the ice! Great bunch of guys. My 8 year old boy has a star struck look everytime we see these guys. He recognizes them all over town and they ALWAYS have a kind word and are super polite with him no matter what they are doing. Coach Naylor great job transforming this team! The start of the season looked like we were in for rockem sockem kind of season but these boys are playing some famtastic hockey halfway through the season. Just got our 10th win in a row even with some key players out with injuries. Keep them rollin!!! The concession at this arena need a complete overhaul. Just a suggestion, maybe start prepping food BEFORE the doors are opened!! Concession staff lying to season ticket holders who see the exact same staff at every game, saying service is slow because they are under staffed is unacceptable. It was the last time I spent any money at the concession stand. I would love to support the clippers further. Good food would only improve an already...

We came for the fun looking playground. My 10 year old found it too simple, because none of the structures connect, which makes it hard to play grounders, lava tag, and other games. The 8 year old mostly enjoyed it. We saw lots of other young children playing while we were here. The walking path is on-leash dog friendly, though dogs are not allowed in the playground itself. The walking path is also bike friendly, but I would only bring bikes for little ones. The big gazebo has 2 picnic tables. The space is fully fenced. The big trees were appreciated. There needs to be more benches for adults. The toilet was relatively clean. The few garbage cans were empty.

the pumptrack especially is so well-designed and built to last, perfectly paved, marked... The brand new (memorial) Steve Smith Bike Park has three jump lines and two of these fantastic paved pumptracks!! Great fun for all ages of active bikers. Thanks to @velo_solutions for their fine work and attention to detail! And thanks Tianna for driving your boy back up the mountain all those times. #longlivechainsaw
