Columbia Bakery Ltd — Restaurant in Nanaimo

I buy from this bakery and love their baked items. I am also saddened by the harsh/rudeness from the servers. I asked for a loaf of bread to be sliced and you would have thought I’d have asked her to slice her hand off. No she said curtly and added that they don’t slice bread until after 11:30. I was perplexed as I was the only one in the bakery that moment and upon taking my unsliced bread to my car it was cold, not a bit warm which is why I thought maybe they couldn’t slice it.

Possibly the rudest staff I have ever had to experience in a bakery. Thought maybe it was a one off but no. Turns out you must have to be a rude person to work there. One woman especially. Yeah, you know who you are. Ask a simple question such as, do you have milk?, and the nasty reply is totally unnecessary. Very rude staff. I’ve been in quite a few times hoping for a different experience ( I’m very big on supporting local businesses), unfortunately I haven’t had one. It’s sad because they do have good bakery items. I made my last attempt and will now be going elsewhere. Maybe some customer service courses could help?
