Our own modern 800-seat live performance theater, right here in Nanaimo. Acts such as Swan Lake by the Moscow Ballet, musical acts and live theatre have all performed here, and many return year after year. The resident Vancouver Island Symphony always has a rich seasonal program. This is still a theater that cares about community, making time available for local schools to put on showcases and recitals. A variety of accessible seating options on multiple levels. Parking is easy underground, and plenty of excellent dining options available within walking distance. Self-serve filtered water available if you bring back your Port Theatre water bottle! After the performance, take a romantic stroll along the marina across from the water. A well-managed venue that offers access to world-class entertainment for all...

This is a beautiful theatre and very comfortable. It's a little awkward for people with mobility challenges because the seating map provides no guidance (it says to call for assistance) and the washrooms are on the main floor, opposite side from the elevator (right side of the theatre, if you're facing the stage). Rows J and W are best for those with difficulty with stairs, and if you're taking the elevator, it lets you off on the left side (facing the stage) so lower numbered seats in row W are great. An attendant helped us stash my mom's walker. There is a drop off area in front which you'll need because handicapped parking is a bit of a trek. The parkade next door accepts...

This theatre boasts amazing acoustic and great seating. There are concession stands offering snacks & beverages before and during intermissions. The men's room is always clean, I can't speak to the ladies facilities but assume that they're kept pristine as well. My only complaint would be about parking. There's a parkade adjacent that is run by Robbins (if memory serves) and is a bit pricey and the machine is incredibly slow which results in a lineup of patrons waiting to pay. I've seen a dozen or more shows in here and haven't had a bad...

This venue this theatre is an amazing piece of engineering and artistic triumphs. The stage is just perfect. The stage wings are huge. The hall from stage right to stage left is set perfectly for any performer needing such an entrance. My time upon this stage was amazing. I will update if, eventually, I see a show in the theatre itself. Backstage is inspired. The figure is a staging prop for lighting fyi.

I went to the Port Theatre to see USS for the second time. They put on a fantastic show. The band that opened for them Hotel Mira was awesome as well. It was a fantastic experience and I would have given five stars if the concession had been open or even a vending machine for bottled water or some iced tea.
