It was a Grey windy day with a little rain but the harbour was teaming with activity I saw packs of sea otters chirping at and chasing one another a seal and lots of different birds it's amazing to see what with all the sea planes taking off and landing (which is kinds cool to watch) walking further down you can see all the tug boats and private fishing/pleasure craft . I love walking down the sea wall here summer or anytime of year

Awesome place to come for a walk, great views and friendly people. The crab fishers are always letting people check out what they catch and take pics with the crabs. 🦀 we just picked up some nets to start crab fishing here. Can’t wait to try it out! If you come here be sure to check out food truck Fridays in the park by the Nanaimo sign. You can get some bomb mini doughnuts like nothing you’ve ever tasted

Came here on a Saturday afternoon expecting large crowds... Park was nicely maintained with lots of grassy areas for picnics and some food trucks Playground had some unique structures to play on - definitely more suitable for kids ages 6-10 Checked out the pier too, and it wasn’t crowded either, fisherman seemed to have lots of luck that day (crabs)

I spent most of my childhood walking the waterfront. It was my favorite place to be.

Whenever I'm in town on vacation, I have to do a walk around like the good ol' days. The shops.. The food.. The view 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Sitting on the peer; listening to the ocean and seagulls.. With the wind blowing around.. The sun sparkling on the water ❤

I miss the sound and smell of the ocean 🐙🐚🐠🐟🐬🐳🐋🐡🦀

Edit: I've been reading articles and friends have told me that drug addicts and homeless people have taken over downtown... That it's a wasteland now.

That is so unbelievably sad 😭 Whenever people say, "Nanaimo is a shthole." I correct them and say, "Nanaimo is beautiful, it's the people who are sht."

I hope the hard working and caring people of Nanaimo take back...

This long L-shaped floating dock allows pedestrians to get right into the harbour, surrounded by boats and seaplanes and with great views to Newcastle and Protection Islands. You can watch people pulling their crab traps out of the water - they are used to people standing near to see what's in the traps. Locals throw scraps to the eagles, and a seal will often come to say hello (and to steal from the traps). It gets cold here...
