Casino Nanaimo — Attraction in Nanaimo

There is a lot of room for improvement at Casino Nanaimo.

On the plus side...some very nice staff, particularly Kaylee (spelling?) and Trenh (again,not sure re spelling, sorry), both slot attendants and also Antoinette at the payout cages. Unfortunately, there are also quite a few who need to learn what customer service actually is.

Too often, it is a LONG wait just to get a reserved sign, meanwhile they have staff standing around at the Blackjack tables doing nothing!

One woman dealer in particular (sloppy looking, blonde hair, glasses, wears street clothes, 40ish,... does absolutely nothing from what we've noted). Why they need so many dealers doing nothing much but visit with their pals while the slot attendants are running off their feet, is just stupid and certainly not geared to providing even basic customer service.

We don't go much but when we do, it's usually for a short time. Payouts getting smaller and smaller recently. What fun is that??😣

And get some BC beers !!! I'm guessing this would go over a lot better especially with tourists; instead it's the usual boring brands like Molson, Budweiser...how about supporting all the great Island breweries and provide something memorable to enjoy? Organic wine would be even better but not one currently available.

The new restaurant is SO cheap looking, the least they could provide is well stocked liquor list, with a lot more choices...

GOOD: The Well Pub's kitchen open late(r) than most nearby restaurants. NEEDS TO IMPROVE: If bclc Technician would adjust RouletteX game to possible 1000X payout as it was when first installed,... I'd adjust my review. Until then the odds make this game unfun. In fact, to do yourself a favor, avoid the whole "Mission Control" area altogether. (THIS PART MIGHT BE UNSUITABLE FOR ALL REVIEW READERS) BAD: Sunday, March 2, 2025, early evening, in parking lot near entrance. I witnessed 2 men screaming loud profanity at each other about stolen property. One threatened the other, brandishing a foot long monkey wrench as a weapon. Security staff were alerted as one man apparently entered the casino seeking refuge, chased by the second. A tense standoff, one man clutching another in a headlock, other holding a green Dollarama bag lasted several minutes - right at the Security Desk. A stolen cell phone, among other items, were mentioned in their profanity. Eventually diffused, the men WERE separated by Casino Security. Job well done, staff! Police called, but no statement was requested of me. It was overheard at least one man...

Slow meals despite low restaurant capacity. The appies were kinda slow (kalamari and fries both cooked to perfection - never had better), but the meals took close to an hour. Other customers were served and left before my brother and my meals arrived. My brother ordered a deluxe burger and he fed me a bit of his burger. Perfection! I ordered the butter chicken. This was a microwave amalgamation. The cheapest 1/4 inch dry chicken lunch meat cube meal mixed with some soggy peppers and flavorless tomato soup piled on microwave instant rice. Only flavor was campbells soup. The rest of the meal was good, but we were hungry. Almost one hour to our food. While waiting my brother tried to find some real gambling. Roulet, craps, dice, Keno... The casino has no chance games. All are online central and no odds posted. You would lose if you tried. The service sucks and it's all the same odds game...
