I find it a bit unbelievable that this beach is charging $10 per person in order to enter the beach - even if you want to do a light stroll through the area and dip your toes in the water.
As I understand it, the fee is only set on weekends and holidays and is meant to limit the number of people to 350. However, if you are a resident of the area, you can get in for free which I find is a bit odd. We stayed in Wellington for 3 nights and spent money on restaurants and souvenirs contributing to their economy and yet, on our last day when we wanted to see the beach, we had to also pay a total of $20!?
Come to almost any other major beach in Ontario and you can get in for free with better sand and more amenities. In my opinion, Wellington is just another town that wants your money and then tells you to leave with a bad taste in your mouth.
If I had to suggest an improvement, either make the beach free for those staying in Wellington or charge a flat fee per group instead...
Read moreWent to the Wellington Beach with friends & family on the long weekend due to all the provincial parks being full. It was our first time visiting this beach, overall it was satisfactory. The beach was nice & fairly clean, however the fee to get in was outrageous in my opinion. Charging $10 per person for drive ins??? It cost 50$ for just my family alone to enjoy the day! Along with our picnic lunch & gas it made for a pretty expensive day. Considering it costs less then half that to visit the provincial parks. At the very least there should be a flat rate per vehicle or they should offer a family rate. If ur a family of more then 3 looking to enjoy some sun & a swim, u might want to consider other options or visit a public pool instead. I paid the fee unwillingly cause when you're already there, packed up for the day with a van full of kids you do what you gotta do. We won't be returning & will be sure to make our provincial park reservation in...
Read moreIf I could I would give zero stars but the one star let's say is for accessible parking and washrooms/ changes rooms (those were great), if only there wasn't a dead bird laying. Beach was disgusting. When we got there, there was a dead animal on the beach. Then a dead bird by the washrooms. I was so tired of driving I just wanted to lay out on the sand. Only to wake up to people staring at something. It was a washed up dead fish. Then I looked around and there were everywhere washed up dead fish and some were skeletons. The area smelled. I'm not sure how anyone could enjoy their time there. There must be so much bacteria from the dead fish and birds and just the dirty Lake Ontario. Maybe there are other times it's cleaner but definitely it wasn't recently. Move on and go to a provincial park beach at least...
