Peggy’s Cove is a really awesome place to visit because you truly get to see and experience something that you don’t get to see anywhere else. The rocks, the water, the lighthouse - so much to see and many scenic spots for taking aesthetic pictures.
There is a little boardwalk situation walking up to the lighthouse where there are many tiny local businesses to shop from including handmade art and jewelry, food and dining, and even art galleries.
There is also a bigger gift shop located at the top of Peggy’s Cove where there is an abundance of Peggy’s Cove and Nova Scotia merchandise. All of the stuff is really good quality and this is honestly the best gift shop I stopped at throughout my whole East Coast road trip of Canada.
If you plan on visiting Peggy’s Cove, here are a couple things to keep in mind:
It is dangerous to walk on the rocks of Peggy’s Cove and there are plenty of warning signs and security guards located there as a reminder of it, so I’d recommend wearing hiking shoes when visiting.
You are no longer able to touch the water like you were able to 5 years back. You just stay on the rocks and therefore you don’t get the same freedom and liberty to roam like before.
All in all, I would say that Peggy’s Cove is definitely worth a visit, especially if you like visiting lighthouses. Just be careful and watch your step, as something tells me those warning signs have been placed there...
Read morePeggy's Cove, a small fishing village located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. On my visit, and as you'll also see in my photos, most tourists seem to flock to the lighthouse but somehow I was drawn more to the small peaceful cove with its local fishing boats. Don't get me wrong, the lighthouse and it's setting on massive granite is a spectacle, but just as beautiful, in a different yet special way, is the quaint tranquil cove with colorful fishing boats and colorful sheds used as storage space for fishing gear and supplies as well as preparing the days catch...
Read moreYou should definitely come to this place with a professional camera or a phone with better camera quality if you love clicking sunrise or sunset pictures. It's absolutely surreal to see sunset and moon rise at the same time on most days.
The drive to Peggy is beautiful from DT Halifax but be cautious about the wild animals crossing the roads.
There is a gift shop and a restaurant located in this area.
If you have a newborn or a toddler, you can take a stroller only to a certain point so be prepared unless you wish to see the lighthouse from close.
If you wanna avoid long walking then park your car in the top parking lot.
If you have motion sickness then be prepared as the route to Peggy's from Halifax is not very straight.
Absolutely...
