I was absolutely delighted to have âforagedâ out this wondrous husband & wife team business, with its inspiring focus on the amazing bounty of foods & learning the surrounds offer. I was told about the products offered by Forest For Dinner (FfD) by a fellow forager, Pablo, who is the night star cheffer at Barkley Cafe in Ucluelet, who then kindly went on to facilitate me buying four jars of jellies & jams from FfD. Pablo is an ardent fan of good quality ingredients, a good number of which he forages from the surrounding forests of this west coast ocean village locale. Thank you Pablo. I was smitten with what FfD has on offer & I plan having bought the jars of jellies & jams for my son for his upcoming birthday, to take my family on one of the tours it offers of the forests, where it teaches the wonders of foraging. They occur through the year. There are ones in all the seasons. I want to certainly do ones in Spring, Summer, & Fall. There is also a gourmet tour I wish to attend. They cost around 75$ a person depending on age etc. My four jellies & jams cost me 55$, & all are just so mouthwatering to even hear about. Ben & Celia both hail from France & both have been foraging most of their lives, starting out in the French Alps. Lucky for us on the west coast, they immigrated to Canada in 2012, & started FfD in 2015. Ben also has a Masters degree in the field. The Den in Ucluelet also stocks some of FfD products, also offering the most gracious of service, as well as delivery certain...
Read moreI was fortunate enough to join Forest For Dinner on one of their Fall Foraging Tours and it was an amazing experience. They provided a wealth of information about mushroom harvesting during our hike and treated us to samples of foraged food and local products to finish off our excursion. I can't recommend it enough to people who are interested in knowing more about the bounty of wild foods and foragables in our forests.
I have bought and tried a number of Forest For Dinner's products before at local markets and I have always been very impressed by their quality, flavour, and uniqueness. You can't go wrong with any of their wild berry jams (my personal favourite is the thimbleberry) or specialty pickled or marinated goods (I particularly love the pickled spruce tips). Not to mention, they have a great selection of dried mushrooms and other botanicals.
Without a doubt, one of my favourite local companies. Thank you Ben and Célia for an...

I highly recommend to you to take the amazing opportunity given by Benjamin, his wife, and his team, in learning about the native plants that flourish on Vancouver Island (and the Pacific North West).
Their story of success and journey to discovery is one that inspires, and their extensive experience and knowledge is part of a vital network that must be shared and passed on. Participating in the spring fouraging tour reinvigorated my love for improving my own connection to our environment, along with viewing and sampling the extensive and colourful line of foraged products they provide perfectly illustrates the exact symbiotic relationship available to all who live here!
Thank you Forest for Dinner, for making this path of sharing and developing safe and healthy foraging practices for...
