Took my friend who was new to town to have cake donuts, we walked to the back counter as It was used to serve customers as long as I remember and was more scenic as the water is right there, heard people inside and nobody seemed to notice we were at the back waiting to be served so decided to try to go in through the back entrance right next to the counter and was some older woman working inside racially profiled me shouting ‘nice try ‘ as if i was trying to break into a donut shop in the middle of the day! Was sad at my first racist experience in this town because it’s been nice 4 years living here up to this point. So I put my feelings aside and took my friend to the front entrance and we went inside. There seemed to be a family and older couple in line. The family left and the older couple was being served and the rude lady in there does not apologize for the public accusation or update us on why the store is not serving from the back anymore, instead she just says we are all sold out when the older couple clearly was not going to eat 12 or more dozen donuts still on the racks especially when a lot of them were of the same flavor. She did not even ask if we might of been there for a coffee, she just rudely said we’re sold out like she wanted us gone. I’ve brought many of my friends and family to that donut shop since moving to live in this town, the middle aged man who works there has always been super friendly and so has the younger man who works there, but what the woman did was wrong so ill just be supporting the donuts at Mountain View...
Read moreAny claim to be "the best" must be investigated. Indeed, the Doughnut Shop has a great selection, and the doughnuts were fresh and fluffy. I had a "Root beer" doughnut and YES it really tasted like Root beer. I also had the "Homer" which was Raspberry flavored. And the sprinkled doughnut was lemon flavor. The flavors were vibrant making the doughnuts very good and a worthwhile visit. I'm a doughnut snob and I prefer yeast doughnuts, but these are cake doughnuts which was the only negative for me. They were still pretty darn good. Excellent prices too! If you're lucky they sometimes have a dozen day...
Read moreWe made a stop by Port Alberni last summer just to see the place and we ended up here at the pier. We happen to see this little donut place and coffee shop that claims to be the best donuts in Vancouver Island....Fair enough, the donuts taste great. I love sweets and these ones are just right sweetness, just right dough at least for our selections as i ordered 1 one dozen, i let the staff assisting me choose her favourites among the donuts they sell. So yeah, i would definitely recommend to try their and have a coffee by the pier. While you enjoy snacking and watch nice sceneries...
