The eternal struggle between fish and fishers can be seen here. The river, leading up to the dam, can be pretty busy with hundreds of fishers angling for trout and salmon. When the fish do reach the dam they congregate in a shallow pool as they try to overcome the rapids and scale the dam. It's quite something to see. There are observational decks with parking. Went on a weekday to avoid the crowds, plenty of parking adjacent to the dam.

Was somewhat surprised at the large size of the salmon swimming upstream to the dam. Unfortunately some ran out of energy and perished in and alongside the stream beds. (See photo).

Will feel a little guilty now when eating salmon sashimi.
