Corbett’s Dam in Port Hope is a hidden gem for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. The area is incredibly peaceful and quiet—perfect for those who appreciate nature and tranquility. Whether you’re just stopping by to relax or spending time watching the water flow, the calm atmosphere is truly rejuvenating. There’s also a small park area nearby that adds to the charm, offering a quiet spot to sit, reflect, or enjoy a picnic. It’s not overly crowded, which makes it an ideal getaway for anyone seeking some solitude in a scenic setting. Highly recommend for a serene break in nature!

Went on a weekday to avoid the crowds, plenty of parking adjacent to the dam. Was somewhat surprised at the large size of the salmon swimming upstream to the dam. Unfortunately some ran out of energy and perished in and alongside the stream beds. (See photo). Will feel a little guilty now when eating salmon sashimi. Highly recommended as easy to get to off 401 East to Port Hope. Nature is amazing

Corbett’s dam is a hidden gem that sees many of nature in action. It was such an amazing experience watching the chinook salmon pass through the fishway along the Ganaraska river to travel to their spawning ground. This happens around mid-Sept to early Oct. There is a small parking area and side street parking.

The eternal struggle between fish and fishers can be seen here. The river, leading up to the dam, can be pretty busy with hundreds of fishers angling for trout and salmon. When the fish do reach the dam they congregate in a shallow pool as they try to overcome the rapids and scale the dam. It's quite something to see. There are observational decks with parking. It's also a busy picnic area with portalets available. They can be...
