Our visit to this park on Feb 4 was marred by an appalling incident, exposing blatant racism and discrimination. As we ventured towards the waterfall, a staff member singled us out, yelling about a trail closure without any clear signage.
Despite a sizable crowd on the trail, we were the unfortunate targets of this aggressive behavior. When we questioned the unequal treatment and highlighted the lack of reprimand for others, the staff member's response was not only confrontational but escalated to threatening police involvement, as if we were playing games.
What's infuriating is that neither the entrance nor the visitor center informed us about restrictions. The sheer number of people heading to the fall, both English and French speakers, indicates a severe lack of management and communication from the park.
This incident, coupled with the aggressive attitude selectively directed at us as Asian visitors, leaves an indelible mark of racism and discrimination within the park's staff. Such behavior is utterly unacceptable and stains the entire...

Read moreParc de la Chute-Montmorency is an ideal spot for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. Went on a Saturday afternoon, the park was crowded (weekends, between 10:30-2:00pm seems like the peak times), I recommend visiting early during weekdays and book tickets ahead of time. Buying your ticket on the spot will be a hassle since the visitor’s center is crazy busy.
The highlight of our visit is the 83-meter-high waterfall, we also enjoyed the stunning views from different vantage points, the suspension bridge, inside the restaurant and the cable car. The trail behind the restaurant is well maintained although there seems to be an off-putting smell close to the vending machines.
Access to get in to the cable car takes time, so bring loads of your patience and if you have kids in tow, make sure to bring sunscreens, umbrella and water to stay hydrated! It can get crazy hot lining up during the summer.
Parking lot is busy on weekends. But there are 2 parking lots available to...
