It was a nice experience until we went to the gift shop. My toddler was emotional and as her father was handing her to me our baby who is 11 months old knocked over a little tea set and it broke of course which her father tried to catch it. The people wouldnt let us leave or pay for the other things we had until we paid for the broken tea set which again the baby knocked over. I will never be returning there after that, there was no discussion, they picked up the pieces and said nothing about us paying for it. Accidents happen, and again this was a baby. I dont recommend going here or bringing any small children into the store for if they accidentally break something you will have to pay. I worked retail and ik you can write things off as damaged. And not allowing us to leave or pay for our items until we paid for the broken tea set was not ok. Then the person who made us pay had the nerve to ask if we wanted to just leave the item with them like what?!?!?!...
Read moreWe loved the insectarium! I wasn’t sure what to expect because it looked quite small but upon entering we were greeted by very friendly and informative staff and could already see parts of the leaf cutter ant exhibit which went all throughout the building. The butterfly garden was warm and beautiful and gave many opportunities to see all the different species of butterfly. Staff help us hold a stick bug and ensured my 2-year-old daughter was comfortable with the experience. There is a bee hive you really get a good look into and a whole exhibit of tarantulas, but the humongous leaf cutter any exhibit was by far the best and coolest as you could see the ants travelling through the building and working away, we even saw the queen! This was a very child-friendly all ages experience and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Gros Morne or...
Read moreIt's a fascinating experience to visit the museum. The guide are very friendly and helpful to answer millions of questions coming from us. The first floor has a souvenir shop, a room full of caterpillars and the butterfly garden. The butterfly garden has certainly opened my eyes with the interactions with the butterflies. Because the butterflies prefer warmer temperature, unfortunately the garden felt like a tropical jungle with high humidity which I didn't enjoy much. Second and third floor are the air-conditioned exhibitions. Spider usually scares me so I didn't visit the third floor at all. Second floor consists of specimens and live insects. My favourites are the leaf-cutting ant colony and...
