I wasn’t going to leave this review, but after seeing the other reviews, I feel it’s in the best interest of the restaurant franchise owner to understand just how negative my personal experience was in the drive through this evening.
I thought it would be a great idea around 5:30pm on April 30th DEER LAKE, NFL DQ to get a Georgia Mudfudge blizzard. They said they did not make that kind, and I said no problem. I then told them what was in the blizzard and they said they “we don’t have it”. I said, Ok. I then proceeded to ask them if they had specific ingredients like coco and she replied “ yes” and then I asked about pecans and the person asked “are you still trying to make that blizzard” ? She said it like she told me they didn’t have it and there was no way they were going to make it for me regardless if they had the ingredients or not (which they obviously did) For reference: the blizzard is coco fudge, brownies and pecans.
If I’m not allowed to customize a blizzard and be charged for that then I understand, but there is a way to articulate that. The attitude and unwillingness to communicate with someone who is trying to place an order and her ultimate response when I was trying to create my own was shocking!!!
I ultimately told them I was not interested in ordering because of the unwillingness to help me place my order. I drove off.
I called and spoke with a female employee who said they don’t customize blizzards because corporate said so, and that’s corporate policy. She then said that she would get the assistant manager. Tyler came onto the phone and spoke with me for a few minutes. He did say he had heard the interaction and felt bad. He said that while it’s not corporate policy, it is that DQ policy that they don’t customize the blizzard because it compromises the texture of the icecream.
I actually said that’s a perfectly understandable explanation, but the staff need to be able to articulate that. I also don’t understand that logic if someone is asking for a blizzard with 3/4 ingredients when lots of blizzard have that same amount! I did say I wasn’t going to leave a bad review, sorry Tyler. You were super nice and I do wish the staff well, but the team needs to do better. This location is losing money and business because of the inability to provide basic...

Honestly, I will never stop there again. I wish I could leave a review with zero stars.
We made a trip to Corner Brook and decided to stop there on our way back. The drive thru was packed so we went in to place a take out order. Inside the building it was like chaos. People were spread out all over the place with no clear line ups. We discovered most of them were just waiting for their orders. They pass out hand written numbers on paper and get you to wait basically wherever you can find a spot to sit or stand.
Anyway, we ordered our food and paid, and before I was given a chance to get the receipt, the cashier took my copy, crumpled it and threw it in the garbage. A few minutes after placing our order we hear our number being called out. Expecting to go up and find out order ready, all we got was the drink and ice cream that came with the kids meal. So we figured ok, I guess the rest is coming in a minute....
WRONG!!! No less then 35 minutes later, they finally called our number for the second time. By this time the ice cream would have long been melted had we not had it before the meal while waiting. We take our food out to our vehicle and check it to make sure it is all correct before we leave. We had 2 mushroom and Swiss burgers, and there was literally ONE tiny mushroom piece in the middle of each burger. So my husband took them back in to let them know. After finally getting someone's attention, they took the burgers back and passed them out a few minutes later. He opened them up to check again before leaving, and now there were literally TWO tiny mushroom pieces instead of one. He went back again and said that we had waited over half an hour for food and that it was ridiculous. Upon overhearing this, another customer basically said thanks for the warning and left. The burgers were given back a few minutes later with a better amount of mushrooms on them.
What we had intended as a quick stop turned into an hour long ordeal. Don't waste...
Read moreWe made our first trip to Deer Lakes Dairy Queen last evening. We figured we would wait a few weeks after opening to go. We ordered our meal rather quickly and sat down to our table. Our ice cream was served around 5 minutes after we ordered, which we ordered at 5:17. We tried to hold off from eating our ice cream until our meal was served. We did not get our meal until 6:15. Our ice cream was melted and ruined. Two of our burgers were icy cold, and another burger had the incorrect sauce on it. The burger was over loaded with mayo and extremely messy. The meat did not taste good at all. It looked barely cooked. Bacon on the burger was barely cooked as well. Positive note, the fries were fresh and hot. I feel the wait is far far too long to wait for a burger. The maximum wait should be 15 minutes or so. You would not even wait that long in a restaurant for a steak! 3 weeks in, and the wait is still an hour, is not good. I suggest they get tokens for your ice cream like all the other dq locations, so you can have your ice cream after your meal. Unfortunately, we wont be returning to this location for a very long time. Best of the luck thou, hope you can rectify these problems for your...
