We decided to embark on a kitchen remodel. We found Fengfa via Google and honestly decided to contact them because of the reviews and because they were close and convenient. We're glad we did. We'd use them again. A+ Prices were fair if not better than fair compared to other places we quoted. Want the long details. Read on. The initial consultation was great. We knew this process was going to get complicated just because of the sheer amount of desires and options to choose from. But Anne was able to help guide us and give us her honest advice and opinion during the process and it was super helpful. Her experience was super valuable. She would be upfront when our ideas didn't work and recommended adjustments and options when she really felt it would work. In the end, remember YOU own the final decision. You could tell during the process she was really thinking about what would be the best layout, amount of drawers and she asked really good questions. It was like we were partners debating, learning and understanding how to merge her experience and practicality with our ambitions and desires for design. In the end, we took many of her suggestions and it worked out real nicely. (We came all Pinterest ready, maybe a little too much, but she brought us back down to reality, thank goodness) Rudy is also exceptional at what he did. His design and layout recommendations were spot on. We were super hesitant if an island was going to fit. Other online articles said no way, Rudy and Anne said it would work and was strongly advised. We mulled it over hard, and said well, let's trust them so we had to make that hard decision. So glad we made the right one. It wouldn't have looked complete without it. Were there hiccups during install, yes, were they disastrous, no. You're living in lala land if you think perfection comes in one pass. When we did have an issue, what they did do was fix any problems reasonable problems without any fuss. The service here was excellent. They were also super busy with clients and at times prior appointments before us ran late. I was ok with that, stuff happens, but at least you know they take more time with their customers rather than rushing them to make decisions. Some folks get angry about this, others see this as a good sign. If you need to be somewhere, let her know so that she understands it clearly. Also, to be honest, I think some customers today are just unreasonable with their expectations. Even worse some expectations aren't based on reality or experience. We noticed that some cabinets doors were a hair misaligned. I mean hair, you really have to be hunting for this to see the flaw. So was it perfect no, but it was within reality and 99.9% acceptable. For some this might bother them, that's fine, but pay more for a company that will spend 2 to 3 times the amount of time to entertain your definition of perfection. Last piece of advice, make sure you have all your details in writing, it's just better for both parties. Sometimes things get misunderstood. Take a look and let us know if this kitchen is perfect. It is to us. =) Good luck on your kitchen remodel.

Quality of Product (Custom Kitchen Cabinetry): 5* Quality of Service (Sales, Design & Production Team): 2.5* Quality of Worksmanship (Installation Team): 4* I contacted FengFa prior to my new home closing and upon getting the keys, Anne and Nick came to my house in person to take measurements. Their quote was competitive for my kitchen remodeling project, and Anne was very patient and detailed during our consultations. Even though we disagreed over some design elements, the conversation was always constructive. There were a few things I added along the way such as a mirrored wine glass cabinet and new gold hardware, and Anne gave me a great price for these additions. Everything was a great experience until having to deal with the Production Team, then things went down hill after that. My cabinetry inspection was delayed last minute, installation date also delayed last minute (which impacted other trades I had scheduled to come after them such as countertops, plumber, electrician for cabinet potlights, etc.), several items were missing during delivery (including my giant custom range hood cover), the installation ended up taking 3 long days (ie: at times working until 9 to 10pm at night, which interrupted my young kids' dinner and bedtime) instead of 1 day (which is what was communicated to me during the consultations). But the worse was their production manager Song, who was very rude to me when I had a valid question over the design of my custom range hood cover. The design of the panelling was different than what was discussed with Anne and did not match the photo that my hood was supposed to be based on, a photo from their OWN portfolio... so I believe my questioning it was valid. He basically said to Anne in Mandarin "I don't want to talk to that thing again, she's too annoying" right infront of me, thinking I couldn't understand the language because I'm Cantonese and speak mainly English. It was this incident that soured the working relationship, which made me more angry over the mistakes mentioned above as they occurred. He never apologized either btw, only Anne apologized on his behalf when I expressed my disappointment over email, so unprofessional! Anne also kept saying "do you think I'm making any money from your project?!" when we were arguing over the many delays, but I still don't understand how that is my fault when you've been to my house, took measurements, consulted on the design plan, and quoted the project? I shouldn't be made to feel at fault or burdened with multiple delays if you underestimated the work involved or underquoted the project? Why would I give them 4*? Because I do love the final look and quality of my kitchen cabinetry and the installation team was also nice and professional. It's too bad that Song and the delays to the project made the experience poor, I had so many other things in the house I wanted custom cabinetry for, and would've loved to use them again for their quality of product.

I hired Fengfa to build me a small kitchen island for my condo and while it took a bit of back and forth to end up at the product I expected, I’m happy with the final result. My favourite part about the island is the stone and waterfall design. I’m very pleased with the colours that Anne suggested as they complement my existing cabinets and countertop wonderfully. The rest of the island itself is nice albeit a bit spartan and not polished in the way I expected for the price I paid. Upon delivery of the final product I found the drawers to be much shallower than I expected and effectively unusable. After some back and forth and a bit of creative thinking we solved this issue and the drawers are now just fine. I appreciate Fengfa’s patience in working with me to fix this and the extra effort they put into making and installing new drawers for me is very much appreciated. The biggest challenge I found with Fengfa was around communication. They are very comfortable asserting themselves as experts, making strong recommendations and asserting that their product is flawless. This is all fine and dandy when it is - however I wish they had put more care into considering how the product would work for me. I was not happy with the product I initially received and to this day there remain some design oversights that should’ve been considered from the start. I also did not enjoy witnessing infighting between Anne and Song over my product, in front of me, in Chinese; this is simply unprofessional and unacceptable in my opinion. To anyone thinking about employing Fengfa I would recommend the following: make sure you have a clear idea of what you want and be prepared to stand up for it. I think that they do good, efficient work and that my project (a small kitchen island) was not one that allowed them to shine. Despite all of that we made it work :)

Horrible experience with FengFa kitchens - Sued and won. We dealt with Anne at Fengfa kitchens. She was very accommodating but from the onset we knew we wanted a specific color so we told her that at our very first meeting. She lied and said they would have no problem matching the color. We continued our discussions and put down a deposit. They were never able to match the color. She asked for more money (and only accepted cash btw) and we said no you cannot match the color so please return our deposit. We kept trying to contact them with no luck. We finally had to sue and we did win. We ended up going with Castle Kitchens in Markham. They were incredibly professional, matched the color perfectly and did an awesome job on our kitchen.

RESPONSE TO OWNER RESPONSE To be clear, I do not take any pleasure in writing a bad review. In fact, yours is the only one I have ever had to write. My past reviews on other businesses have always been positive.

In response to your comments:

You are confusing what's right and wrong, deceiving the public I am not deceiving anyone. I am simply informing the public of our experience with you, and it is a fact that you were sued and chose to ignore the judgement against you to pay us back what the court ordered which shows your disrespect for our court system.

We spent a lot time providing wide range of services You are incorrect in the amount of time spent as we provided the plans at the very first meeting and were very clear what we wanted and the importance of the cabinet color. Yes, we provided a picture at that first meeting but we also provided the actual cabinet and color and you still could not match the color. The time you spent was due to your inability to follow through on your promise. We would have never gone forward had we known you could not match the cabinet color. The courts saw the physical color samples you provided and the cabinet sample we provided you. Your samples were not even close to the physical sample we provided. A reputable firm will return a client’s deposit when it is obvious the product cannot be delivered.

We can’t accept you request for a full refund of 2k deposit, since I know you are very happy with consultation and suggestions we provided. As mentioned above we provided you with plans which you in turn copied into your company program. If I was happy with you then why would I have to go to another kitchen design company. This company also had to copy our plans into their program which was additional costs to us. The kitchen design company we went through delivered exactly what we asked for including the color. We were so happy with their work that I posted an exceptional review for them and this company in turn was also used by our family. My sister was so impressed with their work that she had them install her kitchen in Ottawa.

We do have merchant machine in the store and we don’t charge merchant fee, we don’t encourage cash payment but we can accept cash as a payment method. Our meeting with you was on a Saturday and we wanted to pay by Visa as I always try to collect points. You told us we had to pay cash which forced us to go to a bank machine to withdraw the deposit. There was never any mention of a merchant machine.

To conclude, we had no desire to go the court route. We simply wanted our deposit back after you could not deliver on your promise.

I feel it is my obligation to consumers to make them aware of our experience with you so that they can make a more informed decision. We placed our faith in you that you could deliver because you said from the very first meeting you would have no trouble matching the color of cabinet we were looking for. The courts awarded to us double the $2,000 deposit for our added expense of court costs and trouble having to start over with a new kitchen company.

I simply want my $2,000 deposit back. I really don’t want to have to continue posting reviews of our experience but feel it is my obligation until our deposit...
