Xe Lua has been around for more than 20 years and always the ‘go to’ restaurant when we can’t agree on where to go. My kids love the pho in beef soup which is comfort food. We came in almost 45 minutes before closing and the waitress reminded us that they have to close by 10pm because the cash register will shut down as programmed. I ordered the large with fresh rice noodles, since there wasn’t a medium size. Since there was a salmonella problem with the bean sprouts a couple of years ago, I always ask for them cooked. The basil leaves were fresh while a lot of places gave browning ones. The beef broth was served hot and tasted good as usual but the amount of noodles were not what I’d expect for a ‘large’ bowl. Probably because there’s less with fresh noodles ordered. However, there was enough meat in my order of raw beef slices with beef tripe and tendons.
