The weir is a great place to visit and I highly recommend it. It's interesting to see the birds and all of the plants and animal life coalescing in one area. The Railway Bridge is a great bridge to walk on but you need to be careful and ensure that the railing is secure. There is a special ledge on the stairs leading up to the Railway Bridge that will help you to bring your your bike up on the bridge however I recommend walking your bike on this bridge because there are gaps between the the boards. So the Weir is a very popular place and there is public parking that is free however it is often very busy so I recommend parking on a street beside the weir if you find that there is no parking available. The Weir is nicely situated between the Railway Bridge and the university Bridge so if you just walk past the weir and go up the Railway Bridge heading east then you'll be able to start walking along the path that coincides with the University of Saskatchewan property and then you can walk west on the University Bridge then head north along the meewasin Valley Trail. It's a really nice walk. I think it takes about an hour or so, however you may come across some wildlife. I believe I've seeing coyotes on the east side of the road and there may...
Read moreThe path around the river is a beautiful walk!!! It is usually well kept up with snow and ice removal through the Winter as well as the other seasons. Washrooms along the path are only the North side and almost always locked all Winter even though signs say they are supposed to be open. It would be nice the washrooms along the path were kept open from 8am to 5pm even in Winter. It would be wonderful.if they built some washroom facilities on the South side of the trail as well!! I know damage is an issue, which is unfortunate, as because of a few people who dont have the common sense to appreciate public, open washrooms to use, everyone has to suffer. Maybe an app that will remotely unlock the doors if someone makes a request? Then use can be monitored without having people right there. The parhs along the river make for a beautiful place to walk. There are parks and benches along the way where you can sit and enjoy the scenery for as long...
Read moreBeautiful view of Saskatoon's river. It's best to climb the stairs and walk across the train bridge to get the full experience and beauty. Please note that the walking bridge is quite narrow so when passing other visitors be prepared to smile and move over slightly. Continue your walk towards the College Drive bridge or the University bridge, there are several places where you can rest at the bench and watch the water and other passersby. Right before the bridge, there are some preserved preservation areas where you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a beaver. You can return on the same route. The best would be is to cross the bridge and head back to your car and savour more of Saskatoon's...
