UPDATE- I did hear from Joan privately with an apology on behalf of the Prairie Lily. I appreciate she took time to reach out, we really can't determine our dining guests when booking a meal, should I find myself in the same type of situation.I will speak up, and hoping Prairie Lily finds a way to monitor their guests so everyone gets a positive and enhancing expereince with them. Having said that the severs were having to yell at guests at adjoining tables for beverages omelet orders etc, so the staff was aware of the noise level at that time and a older couple did complain to their sever, yet nothing came of it. The captain spend a good length of time speaking to a woman from the large party while on the upper deck, could he had not said anything to her as the noise level around them was escalating. As our personal entertainment funds become tighter, I would recommend to search out other options within Saskatoon, this experience was not worth the money spent. Prelude to this review....I did send a private email to the Prairie Lily right after the cruise, to date I have not gotten any response. A group of 7 adults attended the Sunday brunch. Below is the email sent:
I thought I would drop a quick note to let you know how disappointed I was (along with my party of 6 adults) with our experience yesterday. We were all very excited to finally being able to do this cruise and had spoke about it for days prior. Unfortunately, after being seated for brunch a larger party was seated in the same cabin, which seem to be celebrating an occasion, and were so loud and disruptive to the other patrons, that we could not even have a conversation at our table. Rather than having a leisurely bite to eat, we hastily ate and headed too the upper deck for some quiet and enjoyment. That only lasted until the larger party took over the upper deck, continuing to be disruptive to others. Myself and my guests ended up hovered at the front of the boat for most of the cruise. In my party was a man with a cane and a serious disability who was forced to stand most of the cruise (finally defeated he took the bench between the 2 staircases (hardly the views and experience he was likely anticipating). Before the cruise the group had spoke about a dinner cruise, but have since rethought where we should be spending our money to ensure we continue to support small businesses in our community, but also ensure we get an experience we can brag about to our family and friends, it's unfortunate this was not that. I will also add the serving staff was excellent and so courteous (in our haste to get out of the dining room we neglected to leave our tip, our apologies, the ladies were great).
I've been asked many times since our experience (as I'm sure the others have been as well) if we would recommend a cruise/dining excursion , and after telling them our story I'm certain none of us are giving a highly recommend as there are other experiences within the city that would could support with a...
Read moreIn town looking for something to do and decided to try the Prairie Lily. Parking was easy, plenty of it at the kids' center. Easy walk down to the ship from there. They assign seating when you arrive. Half on top deck, which is open air and breezy. the other half is on the lower deck, which is closed in with air conditioning. It was a gorgeous afternoon. We got assigned upstairs to start. It was a gorgeous afternoon, hot sun, and calm winds. There is an audio tour along the way, telling the history of the area, architecture, and river. There are snacks, beer, coolers & wine available for purchase, along with pop & water. We weren't as thrilled after we had to switch to the lower deck. It's not the same feeling down there, being closed in and looking through windows. Some people were standing outside downstairs. We should have tried that, too. We highly recommend the tour. It was informative and fun. The staff...
Read moreLast night we enjoyed a wonderful dinner aboard the iconic Prairie Lily. Although the boat remained docked due to high sand and low water levels this season, the view was still spectacular, and the atmosphere was just as magical.
The service was excellent, and the beautifully restored riverboat offered a unique and relaxing setting. As many locals know, it used to be nearly impossible to get cruise tickets—so if you’ve always wanted to experience the Prairie Lily but never had the chance, now is the perfect time.
Whether it’s dinner or cocktails with friends, we highly recommend coming out to support this cherished local gem. It’s still a fantastic time aboard!
p.s. Wear comfy shoes—you’ll want to stroll the deck and enjoy the ambiance. Bring a light sweater—it can get breezy by the river. And responsibly enjoy their...
