For those that want to spend a nice time at the beach with family, BE WARNED.... Those at the concession stand told me that the Dalhousie Yacht Club are the ones who run the concession stand. My issue is that the prices are OUTRAGEOUS.
I buy 60 Large hotdogs at Costco for $20. That's $0.34 per dog, and approx. $0.50 per bun, the bare cost is $0.84. Now with you selling them at $5.97, that's a markup of 710%. REALLY??? Don't go down the road of the cost of A napkin, the cardboard sleeve, the tiny bit of condiments used. It's also not like you are paying more than absolute MINIMUM wage for the students you have working there. Now how about the popcorn. Approximately $0.10 worth of kernels used per bag plus a gracious $0.03 worth of oil per bag for a grand total of $0.13. Spare me the massive cost of the bag (LOL). You sell this at $3.10 so that works out to 2,385% profit. WHAT A SCAM!!!!!! AND SO EVERYONE KNOWS....THATS PLAIN. NO BUTTER OR SALT. ABSOLUTELY PLAIN!
Why does the City of St Catharines allow this kind of price gouging? The general citizens of this city that visit Port Dalhousie should NOT be the ones who shoulder the cost of the Dalhousie Yacht Club, it SHOULD be their members. Instead though, it seems they must be charging the members nice low rates and making up the difference by collecting the difference from the general citizens who visit the beach and use the concession stand. If that's what really is going on, WHERE IS MY...

Excellent place to enjoy either alone or with family. Based on my experience as a family with 2 children, this place was phenomenal.
It was our first time visiting the place and we had an incredible day, although I must mention that parking is a problem.
Below I detail about the place.
Parking: It seems that it is made to make fines because you can pay a maximum of 3 hours and if you do not return before 3 hours there is already a security person ready to fine you. We had planned to stay all day so we had to set the alarm to come back every 3 hours to pay. (This is not just in this place but in various places in Ontario)

It's a beach to relax upon, along with a grassy area to picnic and play on.
It also has one of the oldest Merry Go Rounds in North America. And the rides are still a nickel. Let's hope is opens one day soon as Covid 19 becomes a bad memory.
Next to the Merry Go Round is a little play area for tots. That is open though.
However there are some negatives about the area. There is a ton of construction going on. Parking is at a premium. And parking around the area is sporadic at best.
Once construction is done ( May 2021 I think), the parking lot will be expanded to about double size, but with the popularity of the place, I don't think it will be enough.
The jewel of the place is the new reconstructed pier. Many thousands of us have walked it and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets or sunrises. Though currently closed to the public, it will be open soon (May 2021 if not sooner, I'm told). The reconstruction is finished and they are working on the landscaping and other last details.
We have waited many years for this.
Summer will be a busy time here and rightly so. We are all Covid tired and this place is a nice...
