My husband and I were able receive a 1 hour couples massage from Marianna & Dania. What an incredible experience. I have had many, many massages in my life, this was by far the best one I have ever had (Marianna performed mine). Marianna & Dania met us in the lobby at Hotel Zed and walked us out to the forest entrance to the "spa walk" as I call it. A beautiful pathway with florals that is formed into the forest. It winds you to the spa tent. It was a really cool way to start our experience. When we arrived, we got to sit down with the girls and experience the oil blends. Such beautiful experience. After we each chose our massage scent we were led into the tent which is such a beautiful, calming and organic space. We got settled and the girls came in and made sure we were comfortable. They took care to make sure every little thing was perfect. The temperature was right, the sheets were pulled crisp and evenly weighted on each side (important for my sensory issues and I usually have to ask, they naturally did this). The massage was incredible. What made it different then any other massage was the movements. They were long, slow & evenly pressured, I never felt that there was an incomplete motion. There was not a muscle or joint that was missed. I was pleasantly surprised to have a facial massage as well. Marianna checked in with me through out to ensure the pressure was ok and that I was comfortable. My husband was massaged by Dania, he also said that she took such care with his comfort and his experience was very similar to mine with Marianna. Another piece of this experience that just adds so much, is the organic sounds. There is soft beautiful spa music playing, but you can also hear the ocean, the birds and the wind in the trees. Its all of your senses being calmed at once. This was an incredible experience and is one that I think everyone should get to experience. If you need to, put your trip off for an extra month to put the extra money away so that you can experience this. Everyone should get to at least once in their life. We ran into the owner in the lobby of Hotel Zen later that day, and she is such a lovely, bubbly person. I loved that she was actually surprising one of her staff by buying them lunch. We chatted with her for a bit. She has such a drive and cares so much. I will definitely be back the next time we...
Read moreEdited to reflect my most recent experience at the new location: I just had the pleasure of experiencing a massage from Heather at Stillwater Massage. I had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a unique spa experience.
The atmosphere in the forest is quite lovely and inviting; the walk to the tent was no exception! The walk only took a few minutes but it was delightful. Far better than walking through hallways in a brick-and-mortar spa.
Once we arrived at the tent, I was blown away by the natural beauty surrounding it. The forest and beautifully landscaped greenery made quite a picturesque and tranquil scene. I could have spent my whole day sitting on the porch in front of the tent, if I had been allowed to do so.
Upon entering the tent, I noticed immediately how clean and well decorated the space was. The tent had plenty of plants and other finishing touches that helped create a calm and natural-feeling environment. This feeling was increased by the warm and diffuse lighting from the sunshine on the canvas tent.
Even though my massage took place in a tent on a sunny, but cooler day, I never felt cold or uncomfortable. Heather made sure to keep the temperature comfortable with a space heater and heat pad on the massage table. She also used warm towels during several different stages of my massage, which were extremely welcome additions! She checked in with me a few times to make sure that the temperature was suitable. She also had relaxing spa sounds playing during my massage which added to the spa experience.
I had been very excited for my massage at Stillwater Massage and I was not at all disappointed. I will be returning for another massage next time I am visiting Tofino....
Read moreWe enjoyed a couples massage this past weekend at Still Water Spa. As advertised, we were offered complimentary access to Zed's sauna and hot tub for 2 hours prior or post massage. We opted for the early arrival option, which allowed us to get some of the r n r ahead of the session. This in hindsight was the best choice as doing it the other way would mean getting those lovely scented oils washed down.. Note that these amenities are also open to hotel guests so your access wouldn't necessarily be exclusive. We were fortunate to have come by people who were as respectful of our privacy as we were of theirs so we coordinated seamlessly and had a fair amount of time privately in each area. If you're also coming in solely for the massage, note that there will be plenty of towels available. But not robes .. It would be great if the spa could offer these to their patrons as the forest walk in towels, lovely as it was, could have been better..
That said, Mary and her partner were amazing. They had a grace and kindness to them that was welcoming and calming. They came to the amenities ahead of time to remind us of our session and walked down with us. We had some great lighthearted conversations with no sense of estrangement to them. In addition to professional conduct, this was good person to person engagement that was genuine and not pretentious. That, in addition to their attention to detail and masterful treatment, was the highlight of the treatment. And the reason why, despite my fuss on the robes etc, I dare not take away any of their stars. I'd definitely...
