We had a wonderful wedding at Twist Gallery. We loved the look of the venue, got many compliments on the food, and the service staff and bartenders were excellent. Unfortunately, we had several negative experiences with Twist that would lead us not to recommend the gallery.
When we first visited Twist for a tour we were told by the owner Nadia that a wheelchair accessible chairlift was being installed. We reminded the staff at Twist several times we had a guest in a wheelchair attending and were reassured multiple times that everything would be accessible. The guest visited the venue before out wedding and was unable to use the lift as she could not get on without the use of her legs. Her husband visited the bathrooms and found that they were not at all accessible either. These guests thus could not attend our wedding. Nadia did not apologize and instead doubled down that we were in the wrong. We asked if we could be refunded for the cost of the two guests and Nadia’s response was “I don’t feel like I need to give you that money back, but I will”. She then proceeded to argue with us over multiple emails about the amount to refund us. It felt extremely disrespectful and rude.
We also booked a time close to our wedding to visit the gallery. A staff member gave us a date and time and sent us a Google Calendar invite. When we entered the gallery it was being painted and no staff were there. Finally the painter was able to reach Nadia and asked her to give us a call. She apologized briefly, then began to give us a tour of the venue over the phone as if we were new patrons, rather than a couple that had already paid her tens of thousands of dollars to have our wedding at her gallery. It was clear she had no idea who we were!
The week before our wedding we were contacted by a Twist staff member who asked us to pick a new colour for our napkins as they did not have enough of the colour we had chosen a full year prior. We felt that as a wedding venue, Twist should find a way to get us the napkins we asked for. We were told we would be contacted the Tuesday before our wedding to see if the napkins became available. On the Tuesday, we had to call the gallery multiple times to get an answer. We expressed that maybe moving to another linen company would have been the best move to which Nadia said “yes, that’s what I was going to do.” Nadia never stepped in to help with the napkin issue (it was all done through her staff), so for her to suggest that she would have found a different napkin provider less than a week before our wedding is simply not true.
My mom was in charge of decor and table centers and was told the tables would be ready for set-up at 2:30 on the day of our wedding. When she turned up at 3 they were not at all ready- she had to wait around and ended up helping the service staff put the tablecloths on. The service staff didn’t do what she specified with the table settings and she had to go to all 125 places to fix them at the start of our wedding. Nadia brought 3 tour groups through to see the venue as they were rushing to set up, and the staff were incredibly inflexible around where the boxes for transporting items home could be stored, among other things.
Overall, the planning process at Twist felt impersonal, lacked accommodation and flexibility, and was oftentimes downright rude. Nadia could not keep track of our payments and would ask us multiple times if and how we had paid certain instalments. There was often a line for the washrooms throughout the night, and they were not even walker accessible. There is a bar downstairs that plays loud music which you can hear very clearly. This didn’t affect our ceremony but later on during speeches it was distracting. There were a lot of good elements at Twist and we were really pleased with our wedding overall, however it was sadly overshadowed by a lot of these issues and how Nadia responded. We don’t know how this venue has such a high rating as we would caution other couples to consider these things before booking their event at...
Read moreWe got married at twist in July 2025. We had an unusual wedding - no dancing and no alcoholic. We were going to play music. Nadia and Nimna were fantastic at understanding our vision, giving suggestions, and helping make our day PERFECT.
Meeting and Planning: Throughout the meeting and event planning, we really appreciated how much they let us do our own thing on our own time, while still helping us keep organized. Their documents were perfectly outlined to help. When we had trouble figuring out table settings since we didn’t want to do flowers, they sent us many photo ideas. They helped us figure out logistics of floor plan and more.
Day Of - Atmosphere: They let us come in the day before to drop off boxes. Nimna and I went through them all to make sure she knew where things were. On the day of, when my husband and I arrived to set up our music, they were already there setting up for the wedding. They perfectly arranged everything. The space looked beautiful, everything was organized, and they did outstanding at making sure the space was perfect. The gallery was stunning. They were also incredibly fast at moving the chairs from the ceremony to the reception. The staff also had everything boxed up for us for a couple days later to pick up.
Day of - Kevin. Kevin did an amazing job with allergies and intolerances. He also helped with two of our families who used the chairlift. They were both treated with immense dignity and respect in a vulnerable situation.
Day of - Catering Team and Bartenders: having a non-alcoholic drinks bar was definitely outside of the norm but the staff were amazing. They always gave me extra cherries in my drink because they knew i liked them. We also had a family member with dementia who they helped so kindly and graciously. The catering team was efficient, attentive, and fantastic. I’ve never seen a wedding where food was out so quickly. They did a fantastic job with a last minute seating change that they handled without me or my husband knowing. They also were alway serving water, which for me was a huge plus. The food was fantastic. Multiple people commented that it was the best catering they’ve ever seen.
Day of - Security: The security was fantastic. Since it is above a bar, they had security included in the venue. He was dressed in a lovely professional suit and was so kind to our guests. He helped some of our older people up and down the stairs and went above and beyond.
Overall, we truly had the best day. And not to brag, I think the best wedding i’ve ever been to (not just because it was mine).
I would really encourage anyone and everyone to consider twist as the space for their wedding. Not just because it’s a beautiful space, you can make many spaces beautiful. It’s the staff and team there that make it truly a wedding venue of your dreams. Truly we couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect day. I’ve never been to a wedding where it felt like nothing went wrong, until I worked with Twist.
I saw comments about the sound from the bar below, yes you could hear it, and that might impact weddings with dancing, but for us, we...
Read moreNadia, Amie and the entire Twist team were nothing short of amazing. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Twist (approx 115 people), and the day was everything we could have dreamed of and more. Nadia and Amie were quick to respond to all emails throughout the planning process, extremely accommodating and organized, and were always quick and very willing to get answers to any and all of our questions (i.e. comparing napkin colours, dimensions in the gallery for our florist, advice and education on Special Occasions Permits, designing the floor plan, and much much more.). Their availability and VERY quick response times made everything about planning the big day go so smoothly and easily.
Overall planning was made incredibly easy with the use of their shared google doc and google sheet for the overall layout and schedule for the day, and for the floor plan/ meal plan. All we had to do was drop off the decor items and bar supplies and the Twist team took care of the rest. They executed everything better than we could have ever done. They are the pro's and we are so grateful to have been able to celebrate our wedding with them.
So many of our guests have commented on how beautiful the space was, how amazing the food from Gusto was (literally, the BEST), the AMAZING bartenders and serving staff (who honestly felt like friends, and they all added to the day in the most positive way), and how fantastic and organized the entire Twist Team was. Twist took care of absolutely everything! All we had to do was enjoy! As the bride and groom, we even had the most attentive and fantastic server, Dean, who ensured our plates were always full (we even had our own plate of appetizers waiting for us at our table after we returned from pictures after the ceremony), and our glasses were always full well into the night. AND at the end of the night, he sent us home with a box of goodies so we had snacks and drinks for the day after!
I could go on and on, but I know no one has time to read an essay, so I will end with saying that we absolutely recommend Twist to all, our guests had the BEST time and the entire Twist and Gusto team are perfection! The wedding stresses that we expected never occurred, we really loved the planning process and that is entirely thanks to Nadia and Amie for all the time and effort they put into planning our wedding day exactly how we wanted it! We had the best day of our lives, and we wish the...
