My stay at Ode in Toronto was wonderful. The beauty and peace of the space, from my room to their rooftop patio--every space has been created by and with local artists, Ode is the perfect haven in one of Toronto's most vibrant neighborhoods, Little Portugal. The family who own and run Ode are very welcoming and accommodating, but they also value their visitors' personal peace and privacy, allowing you to have your hotel experience as you prefer. The amenities are lovely--my room was a painted garden, gentle and lush with perfect lighting options, and it made me feel truly relaxed. Rooms also have television set up for streaming, and air conditioning, to use at your leisure. Amenities thoughtfully include books and games, as well as a calming wetroom complete with toiletries and bathrobes, a clothing steamer, microwave oven and a nespresso machine. Ode's attention to every detail made my stay even nicer than I had expected. Local drugstores and markets for groceries are also close. Ode is near some great coffee shops like The Loveless Cafe (right across the street) and Larry's Back Pocket (next door), as well as the iconic Hank's Bar. The Midfield Wine Bar is across the street and has a small, but tasty dinner menu created by their chef, using vegetables from their own garden. The Hotel is situated amidst some of the city's best vintage shops, like Expo where you will find beautiful and tres hip clothing, and VSP, which carries very cool high-end gear. Local bakeries are just a hop, skip and a jump away--Kitten&the Bear are right across the street from Ode and they make the most awesome raspberry jam, as well as yummy vegan shortbread cookies! Ode is very close to local hospitals such as TWH, and the downtown area is easily accessible too--streetcar stops are barely a minute's walk and it's just a few minutes ride to or from Dundas West Station where you can catch the subway. Ode is perfectly situated to meet the needs of travellers who are looking for a peaceful and inspiring abode, but also want to explore the city from its unique neighborhoods to its cental core. I would definitely recommend Ode and look forward to staying...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at Ode this spring and we had the best time imaginable. The check-in process was very easy, and Erica was very accommodating as our arrival time changed various times due to a flight delay. Upon arrival, Erica gave us a tour of the hotel, the beautiful roof, and made sure we knew what we needed to know during our stay. We felt more than comfortable. Ode is located on a wonderful street (Dundas St West) and within a beautiful neighbourhood (Little Portugal). Dundas can be very lively on the weekends, but is very calm on weekdays. It is definitely a very populated area, but is safe nonetheless. There are always many people around. I have seen various reviews before our stay stating that the street car can be a bit loud at night, but considering our room was directly facing the street, it didn’t bother us that much. We were able to sleep perfectly fine each night, but if needed, a brown noise machine is supplied for your convenience. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and convenience stores close by (less than a minute walk away, including the 505 streetcar right in front of the hotel that takes you directly to Yonge-Dundas Square!). A few of our favourite spots were Egg Sunrise Grill and Bird Bite Coffee, they are directly across the street and right next door to each other. Overall, we loved staying at Ode. It felt like a mini apartment experience more than it did a hotel and that made it even more enjoyable. Every detail in our room was extremely well thought out. It had everything you could need to feel at home. We stayed in the Plum Room and it was the perfect size for us, not too big and not too small (it also has a great view of the street). The next time you are in Toronto for a concert, a vacation, or simply to visit, there is no better...
Read moreCommunication before and during our stay was brilliant. The family that run Ode are so friendly and helpful. Room was immaculate and the decor is brilliant - love the different designs! The room is spacious and well equipped - reliable free Wi-Fi and plenty of plug sockets including a usb socket and usb-c socket on each side of the bed, along with many further sockets around the room. There is a kitchenette with a fridge, sink, coffee maker and oven. The bathroom is very lovely and immaculate, with soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion provided along with towels and robes. A hairdryer is also provided. There is AC/heating, and a flat screen TV that you can use to access streaming services. The bed is incredible - possibly the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in - and love the bamboo bedding! Couldn’t have been more pleased with the room and the service! Would definitely recommend!
You can get around by foot, bike, tram, bus or taxi. We walked most places as the weather was good, it’s about 40-45 minute walk to Downtown Toronto, getting the tram is pretty cheap $3.25 for a one-way ticket, also I was pleasantly surprised with cost of an Uber - $14 to Downtown Toronto one way.
There is a 24-hour 7-Eleven a few minutes walk away, plus lots of other small shops, cafes and bars only minutes away. I’d highly recommend Saigon Lotus as somewhere to eat (35 minute walk from Ode but worth it and only about 20 minute walk from Downtown).
So glad to have stayed here, thank you...
