This Chinese/Canadian-fare diner is nestled in on Queen St west amongst a nice walking area filled with shops, butcher, baker and more. We ate from the Chinese menu- dinners for 1 plus some wontons and soup. The wonton soup was good, fried wontons were not bad but I prefer a less hard and crunchy wrap. Unfortunately, using the deep fryer meant the smell of fried food permeated the restaurant, and wasn’t terribly pleasant.

What a delightful little diner! Strong mom and pop vibe. I was skeptical about ordering but my friends had eaten here before and said the food is good. The adventure down to the bathroom was a bit on the creepy side but the food was wonderful and reaaonably priced. My stomach was upset so I ended up boxing up my breakfast, so I hope if the owners read this they know it's not because it wasn't good. I would eat here again.

This is what I got for $6.50: 4 eggs scrambled, home fries, 3 sausages, 4 pieces of toast your choice and a coffe/tea. Like, how do you even beat that. Sure, it wasn’t fancy or any quality food, but it’s not bad. Came back for a second time as well, got the same thing, didn’t let me down. If you’re looking for some cheap brunch, like cheap like no other places, this is your spot!

Read the great reviews. So decided to hit it up around noon on a Sunday.

The absolute worst breakfast dining experience I've ever had in my life.

Let's start with the server. Dressed in dirty track pants, and a dirty stained shirt looking like he climbed out of a 1 weeks bedrest. He was not only our server but handled the cash register, as well and cooking and cleaning duties. He had this disgusting bright green muscus running out of his nose. Looking like he was suffering from some sort of viral infection. The muscus running from his nose immediately made us lose our appetite...his English was poor however maybe it was his congestion thay made him harder to understand...

The joint. Small and dirty. How this place passes Toronto heath department standards absolutely blows my mind.

The front window insulation was literally paper towel jammed in the cracks. Dated decor, everything just looked dirty. Do not use the washroom.

The food. The worst. The worst food I've absolutely ever had. Ever. Anywhere. I had the French toast. I orderd white and got brown bread, it was served about 10 to 15 mins after my friends meal. Our dirty server's dirty thumb rested basically in the middle of my plate leaving a greasy thumb print smudge across my plate.

shudders The French toast had globs of margarine tossed on top. No syrup was served. No hash browns or bacon. Just the French toast with margarine globbed on top on a dirty plate. My friends omelette... I asked him on his thoughts. This was his quote 'pretty sure I saw a hair, and just stopped eating it.' 'Worst omelette I've ever had'

This place is a dump. It was cheap. But I can't really say much about that. Our server didn't remember what we ordered when we cashed out. I told the server what we ordered. After he frantically searched for our order he written down. He ended up charging us 12 bucks. Which I'm sure for both meals was about half price or less.

Don't bother wasting your time on this place. I'm just hoping I don't end up...

I really dont know how this place has such a high rating. Maybe it’s the burgers and eggs, but I’ve ordered a Chinese dish twice from this place and both times the food was meh.

The first time the food arrived about an hour after my order, which is not unexpected. But tonight was my 2nd time ordering. i put in an order for a single meal, as i am a single person living alone. The lady on the phone told me i should order more food next time, it’s too little food. I reminded her that i am paying for delivery, this isnt free. So she shut up. She seemed to take offence to this because after taking my order and telling me the total, she immediately hung up on me in the middle of asking her a question of when to expect the food. I called back immediately and she didnt answer my call. I had to call 2 more times for her to pick up and tell me it would be an hour.

Yeah that was a lie. The food came 2hrs late. Yes, 2 hours. I called at 522pm and the delivery man called my buzzer at 721pm. And the food was room temp, not even warm.

So i called just now to speak to a manager, just so the manager is aware what is going on in their store. the lady pretended she doesn’t know when manager will be in and hung up on me. Twice.

Also, she charged me $11.50 for my meal, which was Dinner for One No. 10. The menu uploaded by the owners on the FB page says it is $10.50. She even said $10.50 initially but then corrected herself and said $11.50. That menu on FB was uploaded in 2022, so it’s possibly prices have gone up. But then why havent the owners uploaded the new menu prices? Makes me wonder if she purposely upcharged me because i ordered “too little food”.

It’s a shame that one of the few Chinese restaurants in Parkdale with delivery has such a high rating, yet this lady is ruining their star rating with this abysmal customer service and attitude that we should order more because it’s not worth her driver delivering such little food.

Reader, you have...

Want great food, at a great place, served to you by genuinely kind people? This is the place.

Don’t get confused - this isn’t your typical Queen Street fancy or glamorous “5 star restaurant, with a 5 star atmosphere.” It is in fact a no-nonsense local eatery, ran by a couple will openly admit that they haven’t renovated since they opened the place in 1999. They’re very humble, and they make excellent food for the price. I dunno what the guy who reviewed before me is on about, but the man and his wife who own this place work crazy hard to try and make a living, and are both great chefs for the prices they charge. I can’t think of many places in the city that offer a $9 combo dinner, a $5 wonton soup or a $10 big breakfast anymore, but those dishes and everything else on the menu is seriously GOOD for what you’re paying.

My girlfriend and I come here often, and we’re always treated well. I’d understand leaving a bad review if you were paying $30 for eggs and bacon, but at these prices and with such kind people who clearly run this as a family business, if they’re even above average and good quality (as they are) then there’s no reason why anyone should be riled up about it. I always recommend this place to my friends, and I always will. Definitely worth the price of admission, and a hidden gem in the crazy expensive area that is Queen and Ossington. Don’t ignore it just cause it isn’t glammed up like its neighbours. This is the real thing, and the very definition of quality...
