We only discovered the distillery district towards the end of our holiday. We'd been to some of the big theatres, and apart from "War Horse" which was stunningly brilliant, our next favourite would have to be Neil Simon's "The Good Time Boys". For such a small venue it had real impact in making you feel you were sharing the feelings and actions of the wonderful cast. Also the scenery was so well made, in fact the whole production was great, and we were sad to leave, as we were flying back to the U.K. the following day. Since then we have been saving like mad and hope to be flying back to Toronto next year for another couple of weeks. It'll be our 7th holiday (not in consecutive years) to Toronto (it feels like a 'home from home'). And I know when we've picked up all the "What's On?" brochures, one of the 1st things we'll do is see what's playing in the Distillery District. Just one thing would have been nice, to go for a light bite to eat in the District, after the play. Maybe there are eateries there now that don't close so...
Read moreWent on a class field trip yesterday to see MunchStock. The (3)Girls in my cluster absolutely loved it. The show was funny and not too long for little minds to stay interested. The entire cast was amazing. Just wanted to say : There was a young gentleman who talked with and entertained them before the show started, who told us his name was Sam. The girls enjoyed it so much they insisted on saying goodbye to him before we left. All they could talk about on the way home was how funny it was when Sam came out with the toilet seat on his neck. Unfortunately when looking at the cast list I didn’t see a “Sam”( I could just be missing it). I hope this reaches that gentleman as I truly want to thank him for how kind and welcoming he was, he made those 5 year olds feel special. They all want to go back for more shows and seeing kids growing a love for the theatre makes this former theatre...
Read moreTHE COUNTRY WIFE a presentation by George Brown Theatre at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts. The piece was very funny and charming. This was an excellent performance, stage and costume design by the graduating class of 2013/2014 from George Brown College. It was very interesting how they mixed old and new elements. The play is very old written in 1675, I honestly had a hard time following the old English but as an spectator I was never lost, the performers did a great job to display with their expression what was going on. The stage and costume design was very creative there was a mix of old elements such as shoes and wigs while some of the other elements like the fashion were modern. My favorite characters were Mr Horner, the player, who kept all the woman on the town busy and of course Mr. Pinchwife and Mrs Margery...
