đŠ First off, we have been to the Distillery a handful of times and have never eaten there. We are really glad we checked out the Mill Street Brewery.
The Distillery already has its own feel as you walk into the old area. The Mill Street Brewery is located about halfway through the entire block. You will notice it from the one small patio thatâs on the outside and big glass windows showcasing their brewing equipment where thereâs a sign saying âMill Street Breweryâ. It was easy to spot once we were walking down that lane.
As we walked inside, to the right was a cool little bar where you could order the various beers they brew in-house. There was a group of people sitting there and itâs definitely a unique entrance. Next, we were greeted by the hostess and we chose to sit inside (we didnât have reservations on a Thursday night).
As she started her guidance to our table, we walked past another bar area only this time it was bigger. There were more people there and itâs definitely larger than the first bar area and seemed to be modern. We kept walking down a hallway, turning right past the washrooms which finally opened up to a very high-ceiling, open concept, renaissance-looking space that was filled with lots of tables and even a long couch on one of the walls that offered tables and half-booth arrangement.
Our server - Bruno - came over to take out orders. There were 3 of us this time (an additional 10 year old) and we ordered:
đŠAppetizers:
Pretzel with dijon mustard
Spicy edamame
đŠ Mains:
Pepperoni pizza
Margherita pizza
Falafel cowl
The 10 year old loved his pepperoni pizza which was great to know that their pizza could put a smile on a kidâs face (what pizza doesnât? đ€€).
The pretzel was sooooooo good! It was big, warm, super soft on the inside and toasted on the outside but just as soft as the inside. It was salted with sea salt and the dijon mustard it came with had a nice kick (I could taste the horseradish). The spicy edamame was tastier than most edamame appetizers because it had a kick to them and also were more oily - which was a nice addition to a âhealthierâ dish.
The Margherita pizza was really a cheese pizza with a basil leaf on each slice (4). It didnât matter to me. Earlier in the day I had a desire for a cheese pizza and here I was, face-to-face with the dream I envisioned some hours before - dreams do come true đ„°. The pizza was absolutely delicious! Just like the pepperoni pizza, the dough and crust were incredible!!! Soooooo good! It was thin and cooked absolutely perfectly. The cheese was golden which is always a blessing when I get any pizza. So good đ€€!
The falafel bowl was filled with lots of food and all the ingredients worked so well together. Even though it looked like a lot, it wasnât hard to get all of it in your stomach because it tasted well and each ingredient complimented each other.
Lastly, we want to mention our server Bruno who is from Peru. He was awesome. A super chill guy with a good smile, he led us in the right direction when we were deciding on food. I was torn between the Margherita pizza and falafel sandwich and he said the pizza there was actually good and to go with the Margherita - he was soooooooo spot on! At the end, he opened up about his story about how and why he came here, what he did back in Peru, and we even connected further when I mentioned I was in Peru and we were naming a lot of the same areas we had been - amazing connection! Thanks Bruno!
We loved it here and the environment and vibe definitely made us feel uplifted and happy - feelings we thrive on. At the end of the meal we said we would be back to sit at the bars up front and try some of their beer/cider. Also, we will definitely be back to eat.
Thanks to Bruno and the Mill Street Brewery for reminding us why the Distillery District has been there so long and taking us to a land filled with delicious, loving, and happy food and people.
This is our experience....

THE FOOD: Having been here before, I had an idea of what to expect in terms of food. However, on this occasion I opted for the miso salmon which was very delicious! My wife ordered the buttermilk chicken strips and loved it - not dried out or too overly battered like regular chicken strips.
In my opinion, their menu offers something yummy and filling for almost everyone.
THE VIBE: I have to say, I quite like the atmosphere here. Whether you're looking for an intimate dinner for two, dining with your entire family, or with a group of friends, the Millstreet Brew Pub has a cool, upscale, trendy, yet cosy vibe for almost any dining occasion.
THE SERVICE: On this visit we sat on the patio and was served by Rosana. We immediately loved her calm energy, and attentiveness. She was friendly, helpful, and a joy to speak with. When we left, we found ourselves singing that old 80s Toto song Rosana đ
FINAL WORDS: Don't let the words "brew pub" throw you off thinking this restaurant is all about beer. Personally, I don't drink beer myself and neither does my wife- we both had cocktails.
If you find yourself at the Distillery District, and would like a nice dining experience- any season of the year, I very highly recommend your try The Millsreet Brew Pub.
In my opinion, having such a strong brand that's not only well known, but also100% Canadian at the Distillery District immediately adds tremendous value to anyone who visits this historic part of our city. And, not giving The Millstreet Brew Pup a try would be a missed...

Lots of shareables one can order.
Drink menu is huge! Lots to choose from, from easy drinking beers to more the more subtle flavors. Taps change seasonally.
Side note: As of today (2019), for the summer they have introduced buck-a-shuck oysters, only on THURSDAYS. The oysters are cold and fresh and comes with horseradish, cocktail sauce, and a really good vinaigrette sauce.
Service: Service is great most nights. Not too crowded on the week nights, however weekends are very busy, especially during the summer.
Staff are attentive and would check up during your normal course of the meal.
Side notes: -You can 100% ask for samples of beer before you commit to one. -if you are coming in summertime for dinner, go in early to get waitlisted, they give you a buzzer for you
Extra side note: Bartender sarah was awesome!
Inside: English pub style decor, wood bar and exposed bricks put the place together along with big screen TV's for sports. Lights dim out at 7pm for the evening mood. Choices of tables, booths, or bar are available.
