For those looking for gluten-free product options that don't lose flavor, this place is certainly a great option. The store is small and is at the end of the corridor of the distillery's exhibition hall. The window is full of options: snacks, savory baked goods and lots of sweets. For drinks: hot and cold options. Service is provided directly at the counter, and after payment you can sit at the tables in the hall. For customers with limited mobility and disabilities, to enter the warehouse, there is an access ramp and the door is always open, and the store has no physical barriers. They do not have a menu in Braille, but they are ready to inform customers about the product options. On weekends, service tends to take a little longer due to the flow of people.

I came here for a dessert and tried the brownie, the maple pecan cookie and the poppy seed lemon loaf. All the pastries were soft and flaky. The sweetness was almost perfect - I don't like things overly sweetened. I personally would have liked the brownie even more if it had less or a much softer chocolate glaze on top. It would be even better if the staff would offer to warm the pastry up a bit for dining in. I really enjoyed a regular latte there. There are plenty of seating to enjoy the pastry which is a big plus. However, there is not enough place to park a stroller or maneuver it around or between the tables. The ambiance is quite relaxing and nice to have a conversation with friends. Service was polite but not friendly enough.

a hidden treasure of the Distillery District: a perfect place to get a snack or something more substantial like lunch - with an impressive variety of choices. Soups, sandwiches, panini, wraps (also vegetarian), salads, made on premises. There are also pastries, cookies, cupcakes, biscottis and other sweet goods (including ice cream). the indoor seating area is available (10 tables) a great asset in colder months. Espresso bar provides many options - including cardamon latte (I have to try it one day). Milk alternatives available. Fast and attentive staff, quick service. An ideal place to grab a bite and relax a little before more sightseeing and walking around.

I usually don't post bad reviews but I had a terrible experience at the sweet escape. I spent $70 buying food for my family and was given a number. They told me to wait behind the trash can in front of the washrooms. Because it was a largeish order and no seating behind. I asked if they could wave to me when my order was done, that way I could wait at the table where my family was sitting and come pick it up when ready.

The young lady at the counter gave me angry looks and gave a response that stunned me. She said angrily "No we don't do that, we call out your number and then it is YOU THAT WILL WAVE TO US". It was extremely rude adding in that snarky comment.

Then a man who I assumed was the manager then gave me my order. I explained the situation to him and added that I was asking an honest question and to given that kind of response to a customer was very disrespectful. He was at first confrontational telling me I was standing too close to the store then after hearing my comments did not apologize or say anything. I thought at least the manager would show some class but was yet again disappointed.

Terrible customer service. If they were angry with other customers please don't take out your anger on other customers. Never had such a terrible experience before.

Update: the owner said I was disrespectful when I asked two questions. How was I disrespectful when I ask an honest question if they can wave to me and for me to pick it up? Do you not allow customers to ask questions? Also walked into staff are you kidding me? I walked up to the counter to ask the lady a question. How is that walking into staff? The counter lady was disrespectful when they gave a snarky response to a paying customer. If you are busy and flustered don't take it your frustrations on your customers. Seeing this response from the owner only fortifies that fact they absolutely don't care about friendly service nor admitting that...

I usually don’t write negative reviews, as I understand that working in the food service industry is challenging and servers deal with a lot of people. However, after reading other reviews, it seems there’s an issue with the servers' rude behavior. I went to this place when it wasn’t busy at all, and I was the only customer there. I ordered a cheese sandwich, and the server told me it would be ready in 5 mins. I was cool with that and told them I’d be back in 5 mins. I stepped outside and returned after the 5-minute wait.

When I went to the counter to ask if the sandwich was ready, instead of a simple "yes" or "no," the server responded in a patronizing and rude tone, saying, "Yes, I can give it to you if you like the cheese not melted and the sandwich not grilled. Do you want it now?" I was completely unprepared for this reaction. The server was clearly upset with me for asking. I found this response entirely uncalled for. I’m not sure what I did wrong; I was shocked because the server had been polite when I paid for the order.

I’m not expecting over-the-top service, but I don’t think it's too much to ask not to be spoken to with sass when I’m simply doing what I was told — coming back to get my order after waiting for the time the server suggested. I was polite to the server, and instead of escalating the situation, I decided to remain calm and said I’d be back later. I went outside and waited an additional 10 minutes, just in case the sandwich wasn’t ready and to avoid any further unpleasant interaction with that server.

The sandwich itself was mediocre, but I wasn’t expecting much from it. I was hungry, and this place was the...

Went to try their vegan offerings today, caught by their sign outside. I liked how they have that option (also gluten free options as well).

I got their "samosa wrap" and a ginger molasses cookie.

This was about 11.20 am, on Tuesday, March 19. I had enough time to make it back to work. However, the person working failed to notify me that she had dropped my wrap on the floor and was pressing the second one. She was also unfriendly and did not seem to care. I only knew this when I asked when it was going to be ready. So I had run out of time and unfortunately my wrap was cold. Very unpleasant. Also, I did not make it back to work on time.

I had tipped 15%, since you pay in advance. Not taking my business here again because of poor customer service.

Cookie was fine.

Update March 21: From 2 stars to 4 stars The owners reached out to me and apologized for the employee's behaviour. They said that they have discussed with their employees about providing a better experience. I thank the owners for taking the time to acknowledge the issue and taking action to solve it. I look forward to...
